Diversity is one of the core values of the All of Us Research Program. Participants are from different races, ethnicities, age groups, and regions of the country. They are also diverse in gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, education, disability, and health status. Diversity in a research program is important for several reasons. First, where we live, how we live, and our background can all affect our health. Second, many groups of people have been left out of research in the past. This means researchers know less about their health. Participate in the All of Us Research Program and contribute to our researchers' quest for clinical breakthroughs that can make a difference in your community. 🌈🏥 News! 🏥🌈 From July 1st, 2024, stepping into a Victorian hospital will involve answering a couple of new questions to make sure we're truly serving everyone in our diverse community. ❓ Here's what you'll be asked: 1️⃣ What is your sex at birth? 2️⃣ What is your gender? 🤔 Why the change? 1️⃣ Current data doesn't capture the beautiful diversity of Victoria. 2️⃣ Gathering this info enables better healthcare. 3️⃣ It's all about creating fairer health opportunities for LGBTIQA+ Victorians! 📣 The Pride in our Future: Victoria’s LGBTIQ+ Strategy 2022-32 says it best: "Improving LGBTIQ+ data collection to build evidence will enable us to get a better picture of how LGBTIQ+ Victorians experience all parts of their lives. By building this picture, we can better identify needs, understand how services are performing and know where we need more investment to support LGBTIQ+ people" 💪 Steps for healthcare leaders to make this as smooth a transition as possible: 1️⃣ Educate our teams and our consumers about these changes. 2️⃣ No more assumptions; everyone's unique! 3️⃣ Equip our staff with the capabilities to create safe, welcoming spaces for your privacy and disclosure. Let's build a healthier future together! Learn more at the link below. 👇 [Link to https://lnkd.in/gph8YbPW] https://lnkd.in/gcth_5FU

Very good summary of the Cass report. A lot of the report is speculation on theory about causation. One important point though is that the recommendations on process are things already employed at good gender clinics: multi disciplinary care looking at developmental and psychological needs, individualized guidance and care plan with no predetermined destination. Importantly the Cass report doesn’t “ban” gender affirming care like states in the US are doing but actually the report’s process recommendations argue for more investment for the programs and more access for patients

Passionate about equitable health outcomes, authentic leadership and quality governance. Te Whakatōhea / Te Ūpokorehe
Let’s shine a light on this issue. In my 20 years in the profession, I have often found myself as one of the few, if not the only, person of an ethnic minority in rooms of senior leaders in Paramedicine. Similarly the representation of women in these leadership roles remains sparse, despite the significant presence of women in our workforce and the encouraging increase in ethnic minority providers. This persistent disparity signals a need for critical reflection and action to ensure our leadership better mirrors the diversity of our profession. Tolerating injustice makes us complicit in perpetuating the problem. When our colleagues face consistent treatment like this, as research across many jurisdictions shows, it’s time to call it out. Suggesting that gender hinders excellence is an abhorrence none of us should tolerate. Men who witness this behavior and fail to challenge it, or who do not support those affected by toxic masculinity, are modeling cowardice and contributing to unsafe spaces. Let’s bring an end to this. Make space for women to rise or reconsider your place in the profession. #paramedics #genderequality
One of the many pieces of research has focused on gender inequality within Australian Ambulance services. The question arises – what now? Where to now? What don't we know? #paramedics #females #Ambulance #research #Australia
