Senior Partner & Global Leader of Firm Strategy, McKinsey & Company

Over the last three years, it has been a tremendous privilege to serve as McKinsey & Company’s North American Managing Partner. As McKinsey prepares to turn 100, I am thrilled to step into my new role as Global Leader of Firm Strategy. In collaboration with Bob Sternfels, our Shareholders’ Council (our firm’s board), our Enablement Team, and our Partner colleagues, I am eager to help shape our strategic vision, accelerate our pace of innovation, and evolve our partnership model for the next century. As I reflect on the past three years leading North America, what stands out to me is the quality of our impact with clients. It is more distinctive than ever before. We are helping executives dream bigger and make faster and bolder moves. The depth and breadth of our capabilities across CEO and top management topics — including energy transition, technology and AI, productivity and operations, organic growth, sales and marketing, and enterprise transformations — have been getting stronger by the day. Underpinning all of this, is our continued ability to attract and grow diverse and distinctive talent which is now at an all time high. We are helping clients solve the most critical challenges facing society today; we are strengthening institutions, industries, and communities on a large scale. I am reminded every day that our work touches the lives and livelihoods of real people: minority business leaders who have a chance to develop faster. Military veterans who successfully transition to the private sector. Homeless individuals who receive timely assistance. Residents and business owners who can plug into more sustainable, efficient energy. Medical patients who can more easily access hospital care. (I could go on.) I believe our firm’s impact is at an all-time high, and it will continue to grow. Over the past three years, we have professionalized and globalized our firm, significantly enhanced our client service risk management, and integrated compliance into our core processes. I am profoundly grateful to work alongside incredibly talented colleagues who embody our mission and values. A special shout out to all my colleagues on the North America Leadership team: it has been an incredible journey grounded in trust and friendship. Our firm’s longstanding tradition of rotational leadership helps us constantly bring new perspectives to key roles. I want to congratulate my colleague Eric Kutcher, who will transition into the North America leadership role today. Eric, all the best! Having recently completed 29 years at McKinsey, I could not be more excited to embark on this next journey as Global Leader of Firm Strategy. This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to help shape our firm, which I love and so deeply care about. Our profession is changing, and I look forward to helping keep McKinsey at the leading edge in our Firm’s second century.
