Specialty investment bank, Ziegler, hosted a webinar last Thursday discussing the effects of the CMS "Guiding Improvement Dementia Experience" (GUIDE) Model and the role senior living providers can play in addressing care coordination and management for older adults living with dementia. Vision impairment on a global scale is enormous – it affects one in four people, half of whom are not able to get the care they need. But that can change. Research by Seva shows that for every $1 put into eye health, $36 is returned in benefits, such as productivity, learning, or higher income. A contribution – no matter the size – can make an exponential impact. In fact, donors can do 6x more good by investing in eye health compared to a typical investment across all of global development. Vision is required in nearly every aspect of culture, country, and community. With your support, we can put an end to avoidable blindness and allow individuals to see a better tomorrow. We are looking forward to attending the first of what we hope will be a series of NHSE roundtable events to help develop a shared understanding of: 1) the challenges people with dementia face in accessing the care and support they need from the health service, 2) the latest expectations of potential treatments, 3) policy opportunities to affect lasting change e.g., DHSC’s Major Conditions Strategy; 4) identifying the sum of the collective actions of attendees and how well they meet the scale of the challenge 5) agree actions to help meet the challenges. The first stage of this process is identifying what policy teams across NHS England are doing that intersects in some way with dementia. The aim will be to highlight areas that are not currently addressed and where there are opportunities to do so. Throughout, our contributions from Dementia Change Action Network #DCan will be guided by the principles of personalisation and what matters most to people with dementia and/or family/friend carers. We will also look for opportunities to bring in wider views across our network to explore some of the same or similar questions and themes, always asking who isn’t being heard and how can we help make sure they are? You can learn more about our thinking about what good dementia care looks like in our paper “Place, people, purpose and power-Promoting the well-being of people living with dementia through personalised care and support” https://lnkd.in/ewmq5C9k Ian McCreath FRSA Keara O'Connor-Allen Think Local Act Personal (TLAP) Coalition for Personalised Care Alzheimer's Society Leadership for Personalised Care NHS England Dementia UK Beth Britton 💚 James Sanderson Morgan Griffith-David Personalised Care Institute Aimee Robson Tim Baverstock Sian Lockwood Neil Crowther Harrison Marsh Kate Jopling Sarah Tilsed Damian Murphy Martin Walker Dr Clenton Farquharson CBE philippa russell Chris Maddocks Natasha Howard-Murray Laura Bimpson Gemma Clifford Music for Dementia Playlist for Life Community Circles Michele Richardson Catherine Wilton National Voices Kirsty Jowett Freya El Baz #DementiaCan #DCAN
