Many groups host these events, including eChai Ventures, #StartupMahakumbh, and venture capitalists (VCs) like #Wefoundercircle and #Antler etc. You can find events using these apps. Techstars and Plug and Play Tech Center are both trying to come to Nashville to run accelerator programs. I’m looking to hear about experiences and opinions for both of these organizations!! Before leaving Boston for the west coast, I took a brief detour to check out Techstars NYC Demo Day at Google headquarters. 💨 Every single founder pitch was impressive, no lie. 😍 I can attribute this to the hard work of the #NYC staff, including Jordan F., Elliott Mack, Andrew Hippert, and the entire Techstars ecosystem. 🙌🏿 The event reinforced what I already knew: when you genuinely support founders, providing them with the tools to expand and build upon their ideas, good things will come. This is especially true for #underrepresented founders who may not have the network and support system to take their startups to the next level. 😎 Being a founder is tough, but having the support and guidance from an organization like Techstars makes the journey a little easier. Securing funding for startups is getting harder. But there's a much easier way that most people outside of Silicon Valley don't know. The name of the game in the early stages is proving "market demand" and you measure that by the number of paying customers and revenue potential. So those with a good network have an inherent advantage. Step 1 - While working for Big Corp, you write your MVP and begin your startup Step 2 - Reach out to your friends who also have MVP startups and buy from each other. Now you have paying customers and money coming in the door! Step 3 - You watch as your ARR rises rapidly to a booked $100k with 10+ early customers. Step 4 - Walk up and down Sand Hill Road pitching to VCs with your fast growing startup that has customers AND revenue!! Step 5 - Secure a term sheet for $5M and hire a bunch of engineers to actually build your thing and marketers to create buzz about the hottest new startup that's growing like crazy.
