Jon Birdsong Building community as entrepreneurs is incredibly important, and it's something I hold close to my heart. As we navigate the often tumultuous waters of entrepreneurship, finding a common thread that excites everyone can be a game-changer. It's that shared passion and vision that binds us together, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual support. In my experience, the authenticity of our connections makes all the difference. When we show up as our true selves, it encourages others to do the same. This genuine interaction not only strengthens our community but also drives innovation and collaboration. It's amazing to see how ideas flourish when everyone feels safe and valued. Technology plays a crucial role in this process. By using the right tools, we can organize conversations, share resources, and keep everyone engaged, no matter where they are. Ultimately, a thriving community is the backbone of successful entrepreneurship. It provides the support, inspiration, and collective wisdom that can turn dreams into reality. It requires effort and dedication, but the rewards are immeasurable. It’s about creating an environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute, grow, and succeed together.

What I've discovered is that as an individual, you have to be the community. 1. Show up. 2. Serve 3. Share! Show up for the events and lend your voice. The community needs to have your expertise to solve real world problems. Serve in your 🎁 gifts. Let the community know if social capital capital is available. When Quinton Davis (ADU / PRE / NEUR) asked me to show up for a Lot Party, I didn't hesitate to pull up and meet some amazing founders. Sharing that event has provided tangible solutions for a community of business owners that will lead well into the future. As a bonus, I'll express gratitude 🙏🏽 to all of the conversations that have resulted in action. We are the makers of our communities. What problems can we solve together?

I’ve found the greatest thing that a start up can do from the start is have a model that resembles a flat hierarchy that gives much more agility to both the product and the team. Start ups don’t have job descriptions, they have an abundance of skills that need to be maximized.

I believe, being truly invested in everyone you work with, not just their work, but lives helps a lot in building community. Caring about each other is what motivates you to work even in the hard moments.
