Atul Sharma’s Post

As we gear up for the 12th SABRE Awards this year, I'm reminded of a time when the Indian PR industry received little global recognition. Twelve years ago, when PRCAI partnered with Holmes Report to bring SABRE Awards to India, it was a ground breaking opportunity for our industry to unite and celebrate the achievements of Indian PR and communications for the very first time. As we look back at where we have come, a big thank you to  Arun Sudhaman, Paul Holmes, Nikhil Dey, Nitin Mantri, Sharif D Rangnekar, Jayoti Lahiri who were instrumental in making this happen. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our partners and jury for this year, as we gear up towards yet another successful year of SABRE Awards in India. Here's to many more years of excellence and collaboration in our industry! I still remember the breakfast meeting at Pondicherry during PRAXIS on November 24th, 2012 where the deal was sealed. We have come a long way.

Well said, Atul Sharma. I fondly remember serving on a judging panel in India in 2014. It was one of the best of many award-judging experiences I have had around the world over the years. strong entries; thoughtful, highly engaged, and expert judges on the panel; and highly effective management of the SABRE Awards process itself. Knowing how the industry has grown in India since then, I completely understand your enthusiasm for this year’s awards.

Also remember being among the jury members at the first Sabre award. With Senjam Raj Sekhar Meenu Handa and others. And cutting a birthday cake for Nikhil Dey !

Thanks for recalling the first Sabres. It’s hard to forget the various conversations we had with Paul and Arun and the uniqueness of having a country-specific award unlike the other Sabres. A lot of hard work, a sell out event and now it’s such a large platform!
