I am thrilled to announce that our latest paper titled "Investigation of Driver Preference for a User-Centered Design of Decision Systems in Autonomous Vehicles, Part I: Preferences for Binary Self-Driving Modes" has been published in Theoretical Issues in Ergonomics Science journal. As autonomous vehicles (AV) continue to reshape transportation, understanding driver perceptions is crucial. In this study, we explored driver preferences for self-driving modes in various traffic situations. Our findings reveal strong preferences for self-driving in low-complexity situations and specific scenarios across different traffic complexities. Part II of our research will delve deeper into user preferences for multiple actions of AVs. Stay tuned for more insights! https://lnkd.in/gy5S7FWB #AutonomousVehicles #DriverPerception #Research #AVDesign #Transportation #UserPreferences

AI-powered autonomous vehicles that can learn, reason, and interact with people are no longer science fiction. Self-driving cars, autonomous delivery vehicles, and autonomous construction vehicles, among others, are getting increasingly close to widespread deployment. However, fundamental research questions still need to be addressed for us to achieve full vehicle autonomy. For instance, how can we: Remove the traditional barriers among perception, prediction, and planning in order to improve overall system performance? Equip autonomous vehicles with online and offline assurances that meet the standards for safety-critical systems? Ensure that autonomous vehicles work seamlessly in new places? Im helping Nvidia find top research scientist for their growing Autonomous Vehicles team. Email me at [email protected] to explore.
