On-Ice Injury Recovery Specialist: Injury Needs Analysis, Functional Assessment and On Ice Injury Recovery program planning for players returning from injury in North America and Europe.
Because I am often asked “what exactly is it that you do with injured players?”, and nothing exists to advertise or explain it, I decided to build a job description. If you were looking to develop a position these are the attributes and requirements I believe are necessary. This position is not that of a “skating coach”. Having significant experience as a skating coach, it is my opinion that skating coaches fall on the “performance” side of the org chart. Recovery restores function. You have to mitigate risk first…then you can move getting the player ready for a RTP. Trouble happens when people travel outside their lane or area of knowledge. If you would like to see the entire job description please email at [email protected]. Process ideally suited for Pro or Academies with multiple teams. USA hockey has a total of 465,629 registered male ice hockey players, which is 18 times more than the Czech Republic, which only has a total of 25,595. The population of the USA (337, 34 milions) is 32 times bigger than the population of the Czech Republic (10,7 millions), USA has 12 times more ice hockey rinks (2601) than the Czech Republic (220). Let us remind you that ice hockey is an economically very demanding sport, the USA is the biggest economy in the world, approximately 90 times larger compared to the small Czech Republic. Consider also that in the USA is based the NHL, the absolute richest ice hockey league in the world. The sum of the salaries of players of Team USA would have amount of 87 million dollars, which would exceed the salary cap in NHL by 3.5 million. The sum of the salaries of players of Team Czechia, which have on the roster just 11 NHL players and 10 players from the Czech Extraleague is roughly half lower. The result of the quarter-final game from the Ice Hockey World Championship in Prague betwen the Czech Republic and USA is 1:0 win for the Czech Republic. Translated into a business environment, imagine that your company would achieve a better result than a company that has 90 times bigger economical potential, 30 times bigger human resources potential, 18 times more human resources and 2 times bigger employee budget. An incredible success for Czech hockey is clear evidence of a vastly more effective sports development program, leadership, coaching and performance. What Equipment Do You Need For Field Hockey? For field hockey, you’ll need a few key pieces of equipment: a stick, which is curved and specifically designed for ball control. Some players also use a protective glove or a full face mask for added safety, especially in higher-level play. Field hockey requires a few key pieces of equipment to ensure your safety and optimize your performance. #doyouneedforfieldhockey #fieldhockey https://lnkd.in/gRxGcP6N

These past two years, I helped coach a U16 AAA hockey team. Our hockey association hasn’t had many success stories for the past 20+ years, but we changed that in a big way this season — Last weekend at the OHL draft was a record-setting day for these boys, having 9 players (of 18) drafted. They get a chance to play for teams that develop players for the NHL and other professional leagues so it’s a big event and accomplishment to get noticed. The path to success for this team, and for these boys, isn’t anything different from business or life. Here’s 7 principles our coaching staff applied that you will likely identify with: 1. Process over outcomes 2. Everyone develops at their pace, support them on their journey 3. Discipline breeds consistency, and consistency breeds a winning culture 4. Teamwork is always the path to lift everyone up; it’s the path to individual success 5. Build on people’s strengths but work on the gaps 6. Treat players like winners, and they’ll act like winners 7. Enjoy the ride but never get too high or too low - trust the process (see #1) Here’s what we accomplished together: - 9 players drafted (first team from our association to have this many players drafted) - 1st team from our association to make the quarterfinals of the OHL Cup (provincial championship tournament) - Made semi-finals of league championship - Lost by a single goal and/or beat the top #1 and #2 And most importantly, helping young people learn how to persevere in life, not just sport, and be good people along the way. #BeYourOwnLoud #OshawaMinorGenerals #OHLDraft2024

What Makes a High Performing Team? When you think of a high performing team, who do you picture? You might think of the '92 Gold Medal Mens Olympic basketball team featuring Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and other superstars of their day. You might think of a high school team you once played on or a working group that was highly productive. Either way, what were the characteristics that made that team high performing? Many times the highest performing teams are not the most talented and the most talented teams are not the highest performing. I think of the 2005 NY Yankees. They had one of the most talented starting rosters in the MLB and while they won the AL East, they didn't even make through the AL Championship. What it comes down to is cohesion, communication, and shared vision. When each member of the team has a clear, defined role, communicates well with others the team, and all are working towards the same goals they are much more likely to work in unison and be highly productive. You can apply this principle to your team in your professional or your personal life. #success #performance #sportpsychology #teambuilding #coaching #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #productivity #sports #business #yankees #olympics #goldmedal #mlb #baseball #basketball

#EuropeVSNHL: The attendance of 12 teams in Germany and Slovakia in the 2023/24 season is higher than that of the NHL team In the 2023-24 season, three PENNY DEL teams outnumbered NHL teams in attendance. Kölner Haie average attendance was 16,993, topping five NHL teams, including the #Ducks and #Sabres. Eisbären Berlin average attendance was 13,804, higher than the #Sharks and #Jets. The attendance of 10 other teams from #DEL, #DEL2 and #SlovakExtraliga exceeded that of the #Coyotes in the 2023-24 season. So, can Germany and Hockey Slovakia compare to the NHL? #GermanyVSOntario Take-home pay $: 78,639,463 vs 78,034,462 Population million: 83.8 vs 30.0 GDP 2024 Billions $: 4,591,100 vs 2,355,960 Largest arena: 18,500 vs 18,532 This year marks 57 years since the Toronto Maple Leafs and the province of #Ontario hosted a #StanleyCup for the last time. In the case of Ontario, the problems began long before the introduction of the #SalaryCap in 2005 and after the first 1963 #NHLAmateurDraft. At the same time, the Take-home pay of the #TML and #OttawaSenators in the 2023/24 season was 73,796,360. Add $4,538,102 net income for #BellevilleSenators and #TorontoMarlies from the #AHL, and we get $78,034,462 for the province of Ontario. In terms of income net with the province of Ontario in Europe, it can surpass Germany, where the take-home pay of DEL, DEL2 and #Oberliga (Tier 3) in the 2023/24 season amounted to $78,639,463. In terms of GDP, population, and even hockey infrastructure, Germany is superior to or comparable to Ontario. Since returning to hockey, Germany has made considerable strides in the last 15 years. #EisbärenBerlin won the 2010 #EuropeanTrophy, and the German national team became a silver medalist at the 2018 Olympics and the 2023 World Championships. #SlovakiaVSUtah Take-home pay $: >15,000,000 vs >33,765,005 GDP 2024 Billions $: 115.5 vs 248,176 Population million: 5.43 vs 3.38 Largest arena: 10,055 vs 12,000 It's hard to say what #Utah's future in the NHL will be: Will it be as successful as #Nevada, or will it go the way of Arizona? The league commissioner will move the franchise to #Quebec, reducing the number of regions with NHL teams to 23. Comparable to Utah in Europe regarding GDP, population and hockey infrastructure in Slovakia. Slovakia's advantage is the most robust fan base, hockey traditions and achievements: the team won gold medals at the 2002 World Championship and lost the #WorldChampionship finals in 2000 and 2012. At the club level, Slovan Bratislava won the #SpenglerCup thrice in a row 1972-74, while HC Košice lost the 1987 final. From 2012 to 2019, HC SLOVAN Bratislava played in the Kontinental Hockey League, which essentially became a problem for the development of club hockey in Slovakia and influenced its financial performance. Thus, for the 2023/24 season, the Slovak Extraliga Take-home pay is approximately $14,520,000, corresponding to the lower limit of the NHL Take-home pay in the 2007/08 seasons.

The 2024 𝐇𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐲5𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐩 was the first edition of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Women's Hockey5s World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for Women's National Hockey5s teams organized by the FIH. It was held from 24 to 27 January 2024 in Muscat, Oman. The Netherlands won the final to claim gold, while India finished as runner-up. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐇𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐲5𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐲? First played in preparation for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, Hockey5s is a fast-paced, exciting variant of field hockey played between two teams of five players (four field players and one goalkeeper). It is designed to be accessible and adaptable, making it ideal for various environments and surfaces, including outdoor courts, indoor sports halls, and even beaches. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐲5𝐬: ◉ 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚: A Hockey 5s court is around half the size of a regular hockey field. Though the size can differ slightly from competition to competition, according to the International Hockey Federation (FIH) regulations, the maximum size acceptable for a Hockey5s court is 55mx42m while the minimum size needs to be 40mx28m. ◉ 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: A Hockey5s match lasts for 20 minutes divided into two halves of 10 minutes each. There is a short two-minute break between the halves. ◉ 𝐁𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬: As the name suggests, boundary boards are boards that enclose the entire Hockey5s court barring the two goal lines on either end. Boundary boards are generally 10-25 cm in height. In field hockey, if the ball crosses the sidelines, it is deemed out of play and the match resumes with a free hit. However, in Hockey5s, the ball can hit the boundary board and come back into play. This results in fewer stoppages and a far more flowing game. ◉ 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐲5𝐬: In Hockey5s, there are no penalty corners; instead, a 'challenge' is awarded for fouls in the defending half. During a challenge, the ball is placed on the quarter line, and only the attacker and goalkeeper can be in the defending half. After the whistle, the attacker must move 4m before taking a shot, while other players can rejoin play. Hockey5s incorporates all the skills and game principles of Hockey. With fewer players, less space and rebound boards on all 4 sides of the court, Hockey5s also presents a range of different tactical options to other formats. Whilst there are specific requirements for playing surface and equipment at an elite level, the guiding philosophy of Hockey5s is its adaptability for grassroots development. What are your thoughts on Hockey5s? Could it play a similar role for Hockey to what the T20 format did for Cricket? This is Week 2 of #52weeksofsports. We'll catch up! 💪🏽 #52weeksofsports #sports #hockey5s #hockey Image: JioCinema
