One of the challenges of people starting out in tech is having projects on your portfolio to show prospective clients or employers in order to earn their trust that you can perfectly handle their jobs. One way to handle this problem is by creating relationships with people in tech and collaborating on projects. Most times this projects has a time frame and can be a paid or unpaid internship. As a newbie in tech, the money shouldn’t be your utmost priority but to gain skill and knowledge that will fetch you your dream jobs. Currently we are collaborating with techies on an e-commerce site and we are on the lookout for product designers to join our unpaid internship program. The primary task for the internship under #EazyByts involves constructing a travel booking application. Below is the prototype of the application. My main focus was on optimizing the user journey to ensure smooth hotel booking. I made a really big mistake during my Internship search. It took me 15-20 working days to understand that it was a mistake🚶♂️. I don't want you to make the same error and waste your precious time so let's start the story right away. My Internship search lasted for one and a half months approx. For the first 25-30 days or so I couldn't find any conversions. After 30 days I became desperate for an internship. It was at this time I received an Interview call. The recruiter was satisfied with my performance and recruited me for the internship. I received the offer letter and joined work as well. So what went wrong here? 1. The company didn't have any website, social media account, product or service. They were registered as a construction company. Why does a construction company even need a UI designer? 2. During the call the recruiter convinced me to sign the offer letter for a tenure of 6 months whereas the real internship tenure mentioned was 3 months. So learnings? Never become dependent on your internship search. Continuous rejections don't mean that you aren't skilled enough. Your dream internship is waiting for you! Wait for your time, Pick the right company. You will gain the necessary experience and growth eventually. #uidesign #uiux #internship #intershipexperience #dontfallintotheinterntrap

I had a lot of mixed feelings, I was so scared that I even didn't want to join the Slack channel. I had to put on a brave face and ensure that I didn't give up without a fight. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐇𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩? The HNG Internship program is known for its intensive and hands-on approach to training designers and developers. By participating in this program, I would gain a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be instrumental in my growth as a Product Designer. The program's structure is designed to challenge participants and push them toward excellence, which aligns perfectly with my career aspirations.
