Yesterday, Cohort Three dropped by at ORA after their first day at the LiUNA Local 183 Training Centre to share their experiences and express their appreciation. They showed much excitement as they eagerly shared their experiences, recounting the challenges they overcame and the knowledge they gained. They had a genuine appreciation for the opportunity, creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and encouragement. It was a heartening moment, witnessing their enthusiasm and gratitude, setting a promising tone for their journey ahead. A few months back, a few of my school friends were in town for a wedding. I tried my best but missed one of the pre-wedding events as I had to attend the annual event at TIGPS Guptipura. My friends justifiably argued that someone else from my Team could have proxied for me and I should learn to take a break from time to time. They were right, but so was I. To me, a small Christmas Carnival for our pre-schoolers is as important as sharing the stage with the likes of Sudha Murty. No event / meeting / festival is big or small, important or unimportant, consequential or inconsequential. I see, firsthand, the difference that my presence as the Co-Chairperson of the Group makes - for our students, teachers and staff. And by showing up, I have the wonderful opportunity of learning about our stakeholders through observation - something no annual report or excel sheet can substitute. I was an introvert in the beginning of my career. I finished work and headed home, year after year. But pushing myself to step beyond my comfort zone has opened up several opportunities for the Group, our students and myself. I love spending time with my family and friends - they are my lifeline and keep me motivated through the hard days. So good to see this! I firmly believe we cannot offer sensitive, nurturing care or hold boundaries kindly, if we are not aware of what triggers us. Self-awareness gives us the opportunity to choose and adapt our response. At the very least it enables us to repair and say sorry when we need to. Children need to see this capacity to self-reflect modelled more in the caregiving professions. Keep up the good work!

Relished my second coffee session with Mika Azril, my Linkerdin Connection, an Undergraduate in ACCA of Sunway College, will be graduated on Dec 2024. He's also a Co- Founder of Maxdrath Services.  We deliberated the following topics : (1) Sense of reality versus sense of fantasies.  (2) Business sense, business minded.  (3) Business diversification - flaws.  (4) Focus execution.  (5) Results matter.  (6) Behaviors of Millenials and Gen Z versus Baby Boomers.  (7) Lavish lifestyle versus prudent budget, frugal spending.  (8) Property investments versus commodities - plantation, cattles.  (9) Portraying rich and trendy but in really broke, living in rat race paycheck to paycheck.  (10) Some Technicians with very high EQ generating more wealth than Engineers.  Live samples: 1 Petronas Technician generating RM 87,000 per month out of his 100 - acre of palm oil plantation.  2 Petronas Technicians becoming Housing Developers.  1 Petronas Technician becoming a Goldsmith.  1 Petronas Technician becoming a Ferry and Resort Owner at Pulau Perhentian, Terengganu.  (11) Gauging your total accumulated EPF Funds upon your retirement by analyzing your current age and your current EPF contributions ; whether you will be making RM 600,000 or RM 1 Million.  (12) Most Millenials and Gen Z Professionals will be reporting to Baby Boomers Bosses at the work place - strains and predicaments.  (13) To survive with your EPF savings upon your retirement from 60-80 + years old; deminishing funds after 5 - 9 years only.  (14) Chances for you to generate net worth in 5 to 10, 15, 20 years span? ✨ Staff Appreciation ✨ This week's spotlight shines on Assistant Programme Coordinator superstar Idah Mwanza! 💼 Professional Journey In 2021, after graduating from university, one of my friends sent me an application to join the Tikambe project as a community-based facilitator in Ndola. Initially, I saw it as a way to pass time after graduating, but I enjoyed the experience so much that I wanted to learn more about the organization behind it—Restless Development—and how I could join as a staff member. I remember asking my then line manager numerous questions about Restless Development and the other projects they were implementing across the country. I knew I wanted to be part of the amazing team, driving change in my community and working with young people. The project that has impacted me the most is the Ishiwi project. As an assistant program coordinator, I have had the opportunity to work with various young people who are passionate about being part of decision-making processes in governance, holding leaders accountable, and engaging meaningfully in community-led development. My experience with this project has been transformative; I have learned to embrace diversity, work in a team, and learn from others. Working with young people is the best part of my job because I am always amazed by their passion for governance and development during our planning meetings. Having worked as both a volunteer and a staff member on similar projects, I have learned that collaboration makes a huge difference, and there is beauty in listening to every idea, no matter how small it might seem. 🏀 Hobbies Beyond the office and work environment, I love watching and playing basketball, watching football, and reading books. Listening to the news has also become part of my daily routine because of the project I am on. 💪🏾 Achievements My biggest achievement is transitioning from a volunteer to a staff member within the organization. This is significant to me because after my first encounter with the Tikambe project, I knew I wanted more for myself and the young people in my community. I have always loved learning about other projects, which has helped me understand our programming better over the years. 🏢 Office Quirks My most memorable moment at the office was during my first staff workshop as an intern, where everyone participated in a secret Santa gift exchange. ETASHA Society, in collaboration with Mudita Foundation NGO, recently organized a Safety Awareness Workshop at our Career Development Center in North West Delhi, Mangolpuri. This initiative aimed to equip young individuals, who are about to embark on their professional journeys, with essential safety knowledge and skills. The workshop covered crucial topics, including: - Understanding the types of harassment: Emotional, Physical, Sexual, and Neglect. - Recognizing harassment in various environments: Home, Office, Social Media, Education Centers, Marketplaces, and Communities. - Learning about legal acts like POSH and strategies to overcome harassment. We extend a sincere thanks to the Mudita Foundation for conducting the session and making this event informative and impactful. Tamanna one of the participants from Batch SM173, shared, "I can use the knowledge I gained while travelling in the metro and utilize the given helplines for support" Another trainee mentioned, "I was not aware of the legal policies like POSH and emotional abuse." By empowering our youth with these critical skills, we are enhancing their personal safety and boosting their confidence as they enter the workforce.
