We were just talking about this today… so many factors that can influence the time to sell grain. Nothing more so than the right price to do so… and when you have a year already in the bin and another season coming off the field, it takes good financial motivation to sell. Time for farmers to be askers and not takers of a price for grain.

I used to find so much fulfillment after grocery shopping on Saturdays but not anymore. Why? This is because of how food prices is skyrocketing by day and there seem to be some of sought of food scarcity especially with vegetables. This is really concerning especially when you have a medium or large family and you want to stick to eating healthy meals. Conversations with a few friends reveal same sentiments. Some have resorted to going all the way to Accra Central (Agbobloshie). I don’t fancy this idea because of the distance, the proximity of a parking area, and the unhygienic conditions of how the cheaper foodstuff will be displayed. Especially, from these farmers/sellers who have no permanent stall or table. We can’t blame them either. I may brace myself to go there one of these days. From my current work experience in Agribusiness I’m privy to the fact that, the journey of farm to table requires a lot of investment. Farming is not cheap and I really understand when this equally translates to food prices. Sadly, farmers in our region have to bear the full burden of the process from production to marketing with little or no support. It’s exciting to also note that a lot of funding is being turned towards Agriculture now. My question is; Are the right people getting access to these funds? Could these price hikes also lead to wicked activities like diluting foods with inedible substances? Not everyone can grow everything they eat. We should all be concerned to find solutions to this. It’s an election year and I’m curious to see clear Agricultural policy solutions for Food Security from every Candidate. If you have access to any kindly share with me in the comment section. From my 2 clients - my buyer and my seller. The magic is when you bring both sides onto the same page, to not only agree but also to disagree. And from there to take it to a shared agreement between both parties. How? Experience + Building trust + teamwork into one single goal which is to create the environment where those you represent become clients. Not customers. Why? it's that beautiful thing called passion. Selling is not about selling; it's about serving. I have been making this mistake for the past few months, and today, I have realized the truth. ❎ You don't have to "Sell" to people. ✅ You need to "Serve" them. Let me explain how this works in simple words. After planting the seeds, a farmer does not look into it each second, telling the crops to come out quickly. He trusts the "rain and soil" process and leaves it to them to help it grow till the end. Thik yourself as a farmer, what are you doing? The rain and soil are your "content". As for me, I design carousels, banners, and sometimes I do it for free or guide them. The things you give away for "free" serve them and give them "value free of cost". When you do this thing for a more extended period, people think they are "bringing so much for free". What will I get if I "pay them money?" And here's where you start selling. Not at the point when you first come into touch and "slap them with your pitch". There, you only plant seeds when connected. You sell them when you are "serving them". Not marketing effectively is a disservice to those who really need your solution. In addition to this, is struggling with low sales. What can be done? Lay adequate groundwork for conversion. How? 📍Double up on marketing. Think of marketing and sales as planting and harvesting – you can't expect to harvest what you didn't plant. Remember, a wider reach in marketing leads to more conversions. If your sales team is struggling, look into marketing. Proper training on marketing skills might be necessary if both are handled by one team. Also apply Patience. Conversion takes time, akin to waiting for crops to grow.
