Salim Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, Oman, delivered an Incoming host address on 3 December, announcing Oman as the official host of the 18th Annual #GPCAForum, set to take place on 3-5 December 2024. He vowed to take the actions and learnings from this year’s forum as well as previous ones and address them at next year’s edition, which is going to be held for the first time in Muscat, Oman. “This industry has transformed the way we live and is going to contribute positively going forward towards the energy transition as we produce renewable energy from turbines, solar and other forms of renewables. The petrochemical industry is there to contribute and is going to be an extremely important pillar. The next forum should continue that journey and make the voice of the industry even stronger,” H.E. I had excellent discussions today in #Tripoli with Oil Minister “Mohamed Oun” and in a separate meeting with Renewable Energy Authority Head Dr “Abdussalam Ansari”. We explored in depth the Energy Sector in #Libya emphasising the need to protect and increase Oil and Gas production, as well as implementing a clear vision to diversify the economy, away from a rentier one relying on hydrocarbons, through development of Renewable Energy resources and attracting more Foreign Direct Investment #FDI. We agreed that 🇱🇾 has the resources, the vision and strategic outlook in place to succeed, but must urgently work on improving security and deliver political stability to achieve national goals of diversification, sustainable development and high level of prosperity. #libya #energy #oilandgasnews #renewableenergy #sustainabledevelopment #prosperity
