A worthy call to action by CHAI founding members, John Brownstein, Christopher Longhurst, Karandeep Singh, Ashish Atreja, MD, MPH and Aneesh Chopra. This deeply resonates and aligns with the Coalition for Health AI (CHAI)'s vision to establish a federated network of Quality Assurance Labs for AI. Imaging a network of labs that can readily, and transparently generate prospective, real world evidence on AI model performance is desperately needed for post-market surveillance purposes if we are to ensure AI models are safe and effective for all of us.

It has been an incredible week here at the Coalition for Health AI (CHAI). We launched our Assurance Standards Guide and the companion Checklist (available at our website www.chai.org) and made progress with our working groups developing common definitions and best practice frameworks for Responsible AI in Health. We also had to say goodbye to both Micky Tripathi and Troy Tazbaz, who stepped down from CHAI's Board of Directors as federal observers. We deeply appreciate their insights and participation, and CHAI remains committed to working closely with our federal partners to engage the entire CHAI community in defining Quality Assurance Labs for Health AI. Our community is dedicated to ensuring that we're building AI that serves all of us. To do that, we need to ensure that patients remain central to all that we do and that we draft clear guidelines on how to develop, deploy, and maintain AI responsibly in Health. I'm thrilled that our community of over 2500 organizations includes hundreds of start-ups, academic institutions, health systems (large and small), as well as patient-community advocates. As we celebrate these milestones, it is fitting to reflect on Independence Day, a time when we honor the spirit of unity and the pursuit of a better future for all. Just as our forebears came together to build a nation founded on the principles of freedom and equality, our diverse community is coming together to shape the future of AI in health, ensuring it benefits everyone. Thank you, #CHAI community, for your unwavering commitment and passion!

AI is evolving quickly, and many feel a sense of urgency. Clinicians must have a strong basis to trust that an AI solution will improve patient care and outcomes. At the Coalition for Health AI (CHAI), we are working to bring more evidence and transparency to that process. We are a diverse and growing community dedicated to creating a trusted framework to evaluate the safety and efficacy of these models and enable local validation. I recently sat down with STAT to talk about the pathway to responsible AI in healthcare.
