In totality, Tending the Garden is for marginalized survivors who are looking for community, healing, education, and growth. We strive to provide this community through retreats, workshops, live events, and resources. Our programming is created to serve underserved individuals who deserve to feel seen, supported, and heard in an environment where they will be respected and not re-traumatized.” I say all that to say I need YOUR HELP! We are doing a fundraiser where you do not have to spend money!! We just need you to answer a few questions and survey products you already use. Each short survey you complete can earn us $1.60 in donations. They take around 60 seconds You can complete up to 75 We have a chance to earn! $15,000!!! This year’s goal is to build out our community component and structure. Which looks like Support groups, message boards, resources, tools, and more. TLP’s mission is safeguarding childhoods through fostering family connections. The best predictor of whether children fare well during and following parental separation is the duration and degree of conflict. Conflict is natural and inevitable, but combat is optional. 47% of Kansas families with children struggled to pay their regular household expenses last week, family divide only causes further financial strain on families.  The families who need our services the most can’t afford them, and as a result have no true access to justice and are unable to reach their highest potential, resulting in the cycle of intergenerational trauma. The Layne Project needs your help to transform the way families in transition deal with conflict, and expand our reach to all families in need. Presently, we are acting under our fiscal sponsor, Kansas Alliance for Nonprofits to give us the ability to apply for funding, and to accept donations in order to offer individual grants and scholarships to families in need. Kansas Alliance for Non-Profits (KAN) is a 501(c)(3). However, The Layne Project must transform to a 501(c)(3) to achieve our mission. In order for us to continue to serve our communities families and expand our reach this must happen with urgency. Any contribution, direction or insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm conflicted. I can appreciate when a potential funder/donor/philanthropist wants to learn more about a nonprofit by meeting some of the people who are served by that organization's programs. But... Sometimes asking to talk with one of the people who is served by a program (sometimes referred to as the "beneficiary") is harmful. For example, in the case where a woman is finally in a safe place after experiencing domestic violence. Maybe she does not WANT her trauma on display, even if it means helping the organization get more money. That should not be her burden to bear. #funders and #foundations , please re-consider when you ask an organization to meet with an individual that has received services from a nonprofit. In many cases, it may be completely appropriate. But not always. #nonprofitorganization #philanthropy

Thanks IRS...   The Chronicle of Philanthropy reports: "In a potentially widespread error, the Internal Revenue Service has apparently transmitted tax return data for nonprofits that misreports organizations' finances for 2022 -- a glitch that could pose a barrier for charities seeking to secure donations or government grants."   As we all know, these listings are relied upon by donors and other investors to assess a nonprofit's financial health before making a grant or gift.    At this point, it's not clear how many non-profits are affected but it may be worth checking your organization's listing on Candid and ProPublica for errors.
