The Norwegian salmon farming industry has seen a 10% reduction in their CO2 footprint since 2017, thanks to efforts related to fish feed composition. This is mainly due to the use of plant based ingredients that have a low impact on land-use change. However, we still see that air transportation of salmon to its global markets remains one of the major contributors to the industry’s negative environmental impact, and poses a sustainability challenge for an industry that faces a high consumer demand for fresh fish 🐟 Thankfully, there are other measures that can be taken to further reduce the industry’s impact, and the latest report shows that increasing the share of marine by-products in the feed has the potential to reduce the carbon footprint by 17%, among other measures 🌎 Read the full report here. https://lnkd.in/dMPrZha8

A new survey by McKinsey & Company on the adoption of sustainable farming practices was just released. A very interesting piece of insights. It's a great report that highlights the mindsets of US farmers and how the industry can support them in the quest for profitable sustainability. Here are key takeaways that stand out. An interesting study was recently published by McKinsey, and among the key findings are:  • 90% of US farmers are aware of sustainable farming practices, but adoption remains low  • Specialty-crop farmers are leading the way in adopting sustainability practices  • Adoption is correlated with farmers' perceived ROI  • Compensation is a major barrier to adoption for all farm size  • Government-led programs have greater participation compared to industry programs  • Industry players can support farmers through reassessing value capture, building accessible sustainability programs, investing in education, collaborating with smaller and specialty-crop farmers, and evolving nutrient-related programs. #sustainableagriculture #farmingpractices #soilhealth https://lnkd.in/e8s8srAJ

We wanted a platform where we could navigate the farming experience from start to finish and the Agricultural Operating System (AOS) was created. Its features allow for efficient management of the farm from farmers onboarding to inventory management.  If you have not guessed it yet, yes, this is what has enabled us to scale in our efforts to build sustainable food systems, and we’re just getting started! It is how we have managed over 800,000 farmers and 1.54M Metric tons of grains.  It is single-handedly changing the industry.
