In togetherness under this entity, the Association was formed with the objective of: Aligning and standardizing non-ferrous metals importation code with government authorities particularly on hazardous and non- hazardous waste; Playing a role as communication bridge between industrial players and government authorities in order to promote goal congruence; Educating and self-policing members to abide with rules and regulations especially on matters related to environmental aspects; Promoting the blossom of upstream industry thereby encourages downstream players to invest in Malaysia, and Embracing global changes through interactive cooperation and work together with other associations in the world. Maureen H. and Mahnaz Khan of Silverado Policy Accelerator, spearheaded an engaging breakout session titled "Build, Promote, Protect - With Friends?" during which they were joined by Iris Ferguson and Nicoletta Giordani of the U.S. Department of Defense, Sahar Hafeez of the U.S. Department of Commerce, and Narayan Subramanian of the U.S. Department of Energy. Together, we delved into critical questions surrounding the effectiveness of current industrial policies and strategies for ensuring the resilience of our vital industries within the United States while fostering partnerships with our allies. We explored whether policies like the IRA and CHIPS Act are adequate to achieve our objectives, and identified essential policies necessary to safeguard key sectors such as semiconductors, defense technologies, and critical minerals. Setting up a Lithium battery production plant is not that expensive (its, modular, size can always increase depending on need) the refineries to make battery-grade materials may be a challenge. Africa at large has all the resources to make Li-ion batteries, what it needs are refineries, then everything will fall into place. leading countries in this area have invested into refining, however some of them dont even have a single lithium, manganese and nickel mines. once refineries are set-up, the rest falls into place. The big market for Lithium ion batteries in Africa is energy storage for solar energy. That market has barely been tapped. Can't wait for us to finally start producing our own. can barely wait to join this meeting.
