The Business Culture Awards is an annual highlight for those passionate about enabling better working lives and this was the 8th. Congratulations to all of this year’s Finalists & Winners! It was an unmissable evening of celebration and laughter, following a day of learning and debate at Business Culture Connected, for HR and other business leaders who are committed to crafting innovative workplace culture approaches and an unbeatable #employeeexperience. Guests enjoyed an exquisite drinks reception and three course dinner, an awards ceremony hosted by top-class compere Lucy Porter and a live band. The Most Valuable Player from each company across the Peninsula Group came together for the finals of our #MVPAwards, for the chance to win £10,000 (or the equivalent in dollars/euros). 💵 These awards are all about celebrating the very best of the Peninsula Group - the people who make this company what it is. Dancing as if no one is watching … This powerful image of belonging has always served as my guiding star, both in leadership roles and as a member of diverse management teams. It encapsulates the essence of how every individual within an organisation should feel – safe, authentic, empowered to express themselves. However, as we’ve seen with ISS A/S’s recent Belonging in the Workplace survey, too many workers today, regardless of age, job functions or sectors, feel unable to speak freely or are treated unfairly in the workplace. This has a direct effect on personal well-being, productivity, and employee turnover. What you permit, you promote. So as leaders, it’s our key responsibility to denounce toxic behaviors and nurture an inclusive environment and workplace culture that cultivates mutual respect, bolsters unity, and instills a profound sense of belonging. We do this by truly listening to our people. For instance, at ISS, we have established Employee Resource Groups within all our Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging focus areas. Another example is our Employee Listening Strategy, implemented with the purpose of regularly securing feedback from our people to the management. As a leader, of course you must walk the talk yourself. Be a role model. Allow individuals to be curious, ask questions and make mistakes. Help them to grow. And allow them to be part of something bigger. Allow them to belong.
