Primitive Reflexes: A Controversial Topic! While there's no doubt about the existence of primitive reflexes, the debate swirls around their inhibition. Once a standard part of pediatric neurology exams, primitive reflex testing isn't as common today. Nevertheless, it plays a crucial role in evaluating child development. Mainstream pediatrics suggests these reflexes should vanish by the end of a child's first year. However, numerous studies suggest otherwise. In a significant portion of the population, primitive reflexes persist into middle childhood and even adulthood, challenging traditional assumptions. #ChildDevelopment #Neurology #DebateInProgress #mindfulOT #newmarket

At this rate of improvement, GPT-5 launching this year should be better than the vast majority of practicing physicians. I don't think people understand what this means yet: - You can suddenly upgrade any health worker with minimal training anywhere in the world into world class doctors, making the supply of clinical expertise virtually limitless. - You can make health systems have built in clinical intelligence that individually manages every single citizen's health care plans. - it is important to note that the very same GPT is both the internal medicine expert and the mental health expert and the ob-gyn. This means that the silos of medicine breaks down and we can look at a person's health and well-being holistically along with all the advances in medicine for probably the first time in human history. - This physician, unlike all human physicians, is always up to date, and had access to the latest medical evidence and research. It is high time we start creating benchmarks and tests to evaluate these models for bias and systematic errors, and develop best practices for prompting and fine-tuning to different contexts (with varying disease profiles, languages, etc) so that we can confidently bring these possibilities to life without endangering health safety or equity.
On board exams: “GPT-4 ranked higher than the majority of physicians in psychiatry… it performed similarly to the median physician in general surgery & internal medicine… GPT-4 performance was lower in pediatrics & OB/GYN but remained higher than a considerable fraction of practicing physicians.” https://lnkd.in/e74ZArxq
