In September 2023, GVBOT & NAIOP commissioned a critical report on Metro Vancouver's industrial land shortage. The findings are more relevant than ever, impacting jobs, the economy, and our future. Thanks again to MQP Cliffe Hill for touring the Ontario Stone, Sand & Gravel Association Ops Tour through your quarry. We definitely learned a lot about #inventory management, transitioning between old quarry to new #quarry and #rehabilitation of quarries. Lasting impression and take away is the need to move away from trucking #aggregates to using more rail transportation to get the materials needed to build all infrastructure: above, on and below ground. We need to educate the Ontario #provincial and #municipal leaders and those they represent, that nothing gets built without #Stone, #Sand or #Gravel. Further it is vital that we forge alliances and partnerships with #IndigenousPeoples so that we can reduce the time it takes to get a license from 7-14 years to under 5 years. Ontario needs 4 billion tonnes of quality aggregate by 2040 to meet the Province's ambitious and historic #infrastructure investment.

Here's the vital info to know if you plan to come to the table: - Bids are open until 4pm on December 11th, 2023 - Each lot comes with a PSF reserve price, which must be matched or exceeded - Average PSF price is $12.13, or $528,437/acre - Parties must submit an Agreement of Purchase & Sale, along with a Site Development Proposal, and executed Buy-Back Agreement - Within 2 business days of HRM's recommended acceptance of an offer, a 10% deposit is due - Closing shall be the 60th day from the date an approved Plan of Subdivision is registered at the Land Registration Office. Members of the #Badenoch and #Strathspey Area Committee today (12 February 2024) approved the Area #Roads Capital Programme for 2024/25.  The local allocations capital budget for 2024/25 remains to be established which will be calculated from the approved capital budget allocation being adjusted for any acceleration or slippage in the previous financial year for each area allocation, and analysis of the road condition survey results.  Consequently the 2024/25 area capital roads programme is currently based on the previous year’s baseline £7.2m Highland Area Roads Budget allocation. Should the approved 2024/25 budget differ from the previous budgets then the programme will be appropriately adjusted.  The 2023/24 baseline budget for Badenoch and Strathspey area was £473,737.  The 2023/24 Roads Budget local allocation for Badenoch and Strathspey area can be found at Item 5 of the report in Appendix 1. The 2024/25 programme is scheduled in Appendix 2 of the same report - Chair of the Badenoch and Strathspey Area Committee, Cllr Russell Jones, said: “Members fully understand the challenges faced by our roads manager when it comes to fixing the issues on every road that requires attention, especially after another severe winter.  “Members would therefore like to commend the area roads team for their continued efforts to maintain our local road network." Members also highlighted to the road operations manager about the importance of adequately funded winter maintenance in Badenoch and Strathspey, which is "amongst the snowiest and coldest in the country." The priority routes approved by Members today include surface dressing on:  • The A938 at sections between Duthil and Tullochgribben  • The B970 Ruthven to Tromie Road  • B9153 Carrbridge to A95 Kinveachy Junction  • The top section of the B9007 Duthil to Glenferness Road  • The U2379 Lochindorb Road (B9007 Junction to the Lodge) 

The recent Government Land Sales (GLS) tender results have been released, and our Head of Research, Tricia Song, shares insights on the outcomes. For the Canberra Drive and De Souza Avenue sites, the bids were notably low, reflecting cautious market sentiment. Tricia highlighted that developers are becoming more selective, focusing on sites with strong attributes to mitigate risks. On the other hand, the Zion Road Parcel B site saw a top bid of $1,304 psf ppr by Allgreen Properties, amounting to $730.09 million. Tricia noted that this bid, which aligns with market expectations, reflects confidence in the site’s potential given its prime location and the absence of requirements for an SA2 component.
