Nobody wants to lose on a technicality. Nobody wants to lose when you've worked so hard to build up a comeback and you're poised to win a competitive game. The Lions definitely didn't play great today offensively (certainly not Goff) but they were absolutely in a position to win said game due to some phenomenal defense. Yet, they didn't. They came up short. That made me think about the long term investment choices we make in life. The vast majority tend to do what the rest of the herd does, what mainstream media and the talking heads tell us to, and that's put money into the stock markets and defined contribution plans. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but, you can lose a lot of it on a technicality and to things outside your control. If that's the only or main source of your wealth accumulation and retirement strategy then just understand that you absolutely can NOT guarantee that you win when it's all on the line or there's just a few metaphorical minutes left in the game. That's a gamble and potential outcome that EVERYONE needs to understand if that's your strategy. There ARE other ways. Other ways that the super rich have been using for years and years. Snags in The Plan... I was hoping to post about new acquisitions this summer, but so far a string of issues has hindered our progress. 3 for 3 of our recent closings have either fallen through or have been delayed. 1) Under contract for a flip in early May on a bank owned property, but somehow the bank can't get clear title. After 3 weeks of delays, I was able to pull out of the contract and focus on looking for other properties. 2) Under contract in early June on a buy and hold with a closing set for this week, but an issue with a Power of Attorney document is holding up title insurance for the closing - hopefully this will close next week as we seem to have a solution. 3) Won an auction style bid on a flip late last week with the closing set for later this week. Just got delayed 3 weeks because of an issue with the seller's closing on the other end. This one should still close, but just a few weeks later. When I was formulating The Plan, I did not give enough respect to the impact of time. Time is so much more powerful than money in so many ways!
