Staff Spotlight 💡 BRANDON LUTMAN MSW, CET-2, CTP, CAP, EMDR TRAUMA PROGRAM SPECIALIST Brandon has worked in the behavioral and mental health field since 2016 and at Beachway with the Trauma Program team since 2020. His therapeutic philosophy is that the body must be treated in unison with the mind to provide connection and healing. Brandon guides clients in the trauma program toward the healing of both old and current wounds through a gentle, holistic, and client-centered approach. He utilizes cutting-edge experiential paradigms, with an emphasis on somatic healing and neurobiological awareness. He believes in the benefits of addressing core wounds while also acknowledging some current behaviors or actions that might be hindering individuals from having wholehearted and connected lives with others and themselves. Brandon helps teach individuals how to live in the here and now (both cognitively and somatically) and not in the past. Thank you Brandon for being an essential part of our Beachway team! #staffspotlight #traumahelp #traumarecovery #southfloridarehab

Training Therapists to Achieve Excellence in Practice | Founder & Clinical Director @integrativepsych.co | Trauma Therapist Educator | Join a Therapist Consultation Group ⬇️ | Book Launch Feb 2025 ✨
When clients ask intellectual questions to emotional experiences. 💙 Children develop beliefs based on feelings, and experiences, not based on thoughts 💭 Those experiences then form into beliefs and thoughts later down the line. When it comes to emotional neglect, in an attempt to cognitively make sense of the pain, emptiness or loss, clients will often ask clarifying questions. Now before I answer their query, I want to be sure I first make space for the emotional hunger, need or experience beneath the question. Once we do that, then I can mindfully answer the cognitive question of why their parents neglected them. (Of course, this should be done in later stages of therapy, not straight out of the first session). Handle this question with honesty and transparency but also with care and consideration to the emotional experience as well. After all, we’re all for trauma-informed healing for our clients! Share this post to raise awareness! ----------------------------------- 📢 Therapists! | Follow Esther Goldstein LCSW for continued content and support to deepen your trauma informed work/to add to your trauma toolkit. #healingfromcomplextraumaandptsd #traumainformed #healtrauma #traumainformedcareh #traumainformedcaretraining #traumatherapist #therapytips #therapisttips

This book is penned by one of our guest tutors on our Trauma Course, have you read this brave and insightful book by Matt Carey? This book makes essential reading on our Emotional Regulation (Regulate) course and we are also privileged to have Matt as one of our expert Tutors on our outstanding CPD Trauma Course. In his book, A Small Boy Smiling, Matt tells a remarkable story of survival and overcoming the trauma, guilt and shame of childhood sexual abuse, teenage alcoholism, and post traumatic stress disorder. His lifelong search for peace, love and healing culminates in personal spiritual awakening and a desire to help other survivors of sexual abuse to discover their own healing. The book includes a chapter written by Matt’s trauma therapist The Grove's Sarah Paton Briggs, called Soulful Space: Reflections On My Therapy Work With Matt. Sarah is the core tutor on our trauma course alongside Elliott Davis. Matt invited Sarah to pull back the curtain of client/therapist confidentiality and write a chapter about his therapy sessions with her from the therapist’s perspective. The chapter offers a professional perspective to his journey of healing, therapy options, and practical advice for survivors of sexual abuse who may be considering professional therapy. We would love to know if you have read this and any thoughts you might have reflected on. As I embark on the second edition of my Trauma-Informed Therapy Program, I remain dedicated to maintaining authenticity and real-world applicability while structuring the program. Here is how I ensure this: 📘Beyond Theories: We go beyond merely tapping into trauma theories. We explore the broader environmental and sociopolitical contexts that shape trauma experiences. 💫Understanding Manifestations of Trauma: Instead of viewing trauma manifestations as merely problematic, we strive to understand how even the most “distressing” behaviors are protective mechanisms to prevent further harm. 🍀Holistic Perspective: By addressing these key questions, we bring a deeper sense of authenticity and relevance to the program, ensuring it’s not just a theoretical marathon but a comprehensive exploration. 🌷My goal is to equip mental health professionals with the nuanced perspectives needed to understand and address trauma holistically. I sincerely hope this batch reflects my efforts to bring in more perspective and does justice to the complex realities of trauma. 🌼Because at the end of the day, being “trauma-informed” is not just an adjective, it is an approach, perspective, and a sense of assurance for your client that you would truly get them. #TraumaInformedCare #MentalHealth #Therapy #ProfessionalDevelopment #AuthenticityInTherapy

Consultant, Chartered Psychologist, Psychological Researcher, Expert Witness, and Dyslexia Consultant. Trainee Expanded States of Awareness Integration Practitioner
Frank Anderson at Trauma Research Foundation #TRFTraumaCon 35th International Trauma Conference workshop on Internal Family Systems: the Mental Health Provision is WRONGLY focussed on shaming of symptoms/behaviours/habits - when in fact they are all important parts with the 'job' (function) of protecting the person's 'wounds'. Time for a radical rethink of EVERYTHING and for empowering end users of mental health to trust their lived experiences expertise. future of trauma care = integration of multiple approaches to trauma therapy: EMDR, IFS, AEDP therapy, neurofeedback, creative and musical therapies, body based approaches - alongside many a thing that survivors do to aim toward recovery. There is NO fixed short term 'cure' and giving voice, power and expertise to sufferers is the only way forward. #livedexperienceexpertise #patientvoice #cptsd #ptsd #bettermentalhealth

Unresolved trauma is metabolically costly. It takes a whole lot of internal resources to live in constant fear or shutdown. While those survival states are really helpful in times of danger, they are very taxing when they get stuck in “on” mode. Our relationships suffer, our self-worth suffers, our physical health suffers, and our capacity to learn and thrive suffers. There are many ways to heal and recover from trauma. At Kase & CO we believe that EMDR is one of the most efficient ways to move on. But don’t just take our word for it! EMDR is an evidence-based therapy recognized by the APA, WHO, and Department of Veterans Affairs as a front-line treatment for PTSD. Check out our EMDR programs at Kase & CO. Whether you’re looking to get trained in EMDR or advance your EMDR skills, our catalog of options is sure to have something to offer.
