Global Market Research I Asset Management I Insurance I Banking I Commercial Director Helping you find out your WHY’s
What’s that rhyme ‘Rain Rain go away come back another day’ might as well have started to build the ARK, what a week of it, anyway enough of the British weather. Last Saturday saw Richard and I ride our current longest bike ride, all 128miles of it, quite the ride and great preparation for what we have coming up at the end of the month. All in the aid of celebrating a certain person’s 50th (You know who you are, the guilty party) I could think of better ways to celebrate but riding round Belgium seems to be what we are doing, at least we can share a few beers made by those mad Belgium monks who see nothing more than about 15% proof like water. Lessons learnt from that ride and endurance sports as a whole, and defiantly pliable to your life and work, you have dark/bad moments call them what you will but they happen, you question why the hell you are doing these stupid things/the purpose of your job etc, and then a smiling face comes back for you with good will and cheer, it takes a little while but you gradually get back to some sort or semblance and back at it you are. You need these people, that person in your life, the genuine ones that have your back. This week’s message is ‘Sometimes you’re the HAMMER and sometimes you’re the NAIL’. But trust me a majority of the time you’ll be the HAMMER! Let’s hope we see some sun as all this rain is making Jack a dull boy. Enjoy whatever it is you are up to. #experience #health #life #WORK #helpinghand #salesandmarketing #marketresearch #mentaltoughness

🏉🇦🇺 What a fantastic weekend it was! 🇦🇺🏉 This past weekend, we had the privilege of witnessing two thrilling finals that showcased the true essence of teamwork and sportsmanship. The Australian Rules Football final between Collingwood and Brisbane Lions and the NRL final between Brisbane Broncos and Penrith were nothing short of spectacular. As I watched these remarkable athletes compete with unwavering determination, it struck me once again how vital team sports are to our society. Here are a few reflections: 1️⃣ Unity: Both on and off the field, these teams exemplify the power of unity. When players come together with a shared goal, they can achieve remarkable feats. It's a reminder of how important it is to foster a sense of togetherness in our workplaces and communities. 2️⃣ Resilience: The ups and downs of a sporting event mirror the challenges we face in life. The ability to bounce back from setbacks and keep pushing forward is a quality we can all learn from these athletes. Resilience is a key trait that helps us overcome obstacles in our careers and personal lives. 3️⃣ Diversity: These games bring together people from diverse backgrounds, fostering inclusivity and celebrating differences. In our workplaces, embracing diversity can lead to innovation and stronger teams. 4️⃣ Inspiration: Watching these athletes in action is truly inspiring. It reminds us of the potential within ourselves and the importance of setting goals and working tirelessly to achieve them. 5️⃣ Community: Sports events like these bring communities together. They create a sense of belonging and shared pride. Similarly, building strong communities within our organizations can enhance employee engagement and well-being. In the end, it's more than just a game; it's a reminder of the values that unite us as a society. Team sports teach us about teamwork, perseverance, and the joy of collective achievement. Let's carry these lessons into our daily lives and continue to champion the importance of working together towards common goals. 🌟 #Teamwork #Sportsmanship #Community #Inspiration #Diversity #Unity #LifeLessons #Collingwood #BrisbaneLions #Broncos #Penrith #Finals #WeekendSports

Do you and your family have any particular traditions on New Year’s Eve? Do you dance in the street or open the front and back doors to let the new year in and the old year out? If you’re starting to think about how you’d like to celebrate the end of 2023 in style, we’ve scoured the globe to find some of the world’s most fascinating new year traditions! Here’s five to whet your appetite: 1. Throwing furniture out the window in Italy One of the more unusual new year traditions takes us to southern Italy, where furniture is thrown out of windows. It is thought to make way for better things to come and is known as “buttare le cose vecchie”. 2. Carrying an empty suitcase in Colombia According to tradition, those who take their empty suitcase for a walk around the block at midnight on 31 December will experience a year full of travel and adventure. 3. An icy dip in the North Sea in Scotland Held in South Queensferry in Scotland, the “Loony Dook” is an annual new year tradition where crowds of people jump into the North Sea at the Firth of Forth 🥶 To keep them warm (well, relatively), all participants are given a bowl of porridge before they take the plunge. 4. Tin casting in Finland In Finland, families will melt a small piece of tin in a ladle over a stove before throwing the metal into cold water to solidify it into a new shape. This shape is thought to predict the events of the new year. 5. Grape-eating races in Spain Instead of the usual glass of champagne you’re probably used to when toasting the new year, why not take part in a grape-eating race like the Spaniards? Twelve grapes are traditionally eaten at the stroke of midnight, one on each chime of the clock. It’s considered bad luck if you have any grapes left when the 12th chime has finished. Click the link below to see more about these, and the other five interesting new year traditions from around the world 👇

FRIDAY FEEDBACK It is always nice to receive feedback like below, especially when it involves different regions and individuals mentioned. Book Silverback in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow or Edinburgh....you get the same standards. "Good afternoon Jono, How are you? My apologies for not getting back to you sooner, but the last of our trucks and team rolled out of Walton Heath last night, so aside from unpacking some trucks back at base (which is thankfully not in my remit) this summers Golf Events are now complete. I know that Adam and I will catch up in more depth for a full debrief in September (when we've both had chance to have a small break and catch our breath) and I'm sure following that we will be back in touch, but I did want to acknowledge your team and how fantastic they have been to work with. Both the Manchester and London teams have been so very helpful, communicative and flexible in dealing with us and I can't tell you how much it is appreciated. Indy in particular is a joy to work with! I believe on the whole, your onsite crew have also been really amazing, and I've certainly been told that your crew are head and shoulders over others that we have had to use on occasion (mainly lastminute requests that you aren't able to fulfill). So for now please extend our thanks for all the help and support you have given us this summer both from an account perspective and with the onsite teams. We honestly couldn't have done it without you all and I will miss not talking to Indy each and every day! He needs a medal. Jono, I'd be really happy to chat further and in more detail at some point in September and hopefully we will be working with you all next year - although we will be bothering the Scottish office for that! Take care and once again please pass our thanks to your whole team." #manchesterevents #londonevents #Midlandevent #scotland #event #eventprofs #meetingprofs #eventtechs #eventtrends #eventplanning #sports #eventmanagement #meetingplanners #feedback #golfopen

Today is the final day of the Tour de France, one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world. It is a grueling test of endurance, and only the best cyclists can hope to finish. However, while the winners of the Tour de France are often household names, there is another group of riders who are just as important to the success of the race: the domestiques. Domestiques are the support riders who help the team leaders win. They do everything from bringing food and water to shielding the leaders from the wind. Without the domestiques, the team leaders would not be able to compete at the highest level. The corporate world is similar to the Tour de France in many ways. There are the star performers who get all the attention, but there is also a large group of people who work behind the scenes to make sure that the company runs smoothly. These people are the equivalent of the domestiques in the Tour de France. The domestiques in the Tour de France and the corporate world are often overlooked, but they play an essential role in the success of their teams. Without the domestiques, the team leaders would not be able to achieve their goals. If you are a leader in your company, be sure to appreciate the work of your "domestiques". They are the ones who are helping you to succeed. #tourdefrance2023 #organizations #teamwork
