What’s better than fries? Truffle fries. A truffle-infused sauce company, TRUFF, just sold a significant minority stake to SKKY Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm founded by Kim Kardashian and Jay Sammons, ex-head of consumer at The Carlyle Group. SKKY Partners was founded in 2022, and focuses on health, food, beverage, accessories, footwear, luxury, beauty, restaurants, personal care, and leisure. Now, more about TRUFF. TRUFF was created after an audience was created. The founders owned the Instagram handle, sauce. Once the account had grown pretty large, there was a strong fan base. In 2017, Nick Ajluni and Nick Guillen founded TRUFF - a black truffle infused hot sauce, which has since expanded to pasta sauce, mayonnaise, truffle oil and truffle salt. So how does a hot sauce Insta-brand get an acquisition from a billionaire’s private equity firm? High-growth. Although they threw their first production output in 2017, TRUFF has grown to 20,000 stores - including Whole Foods Market, Target, and more. TRUFF has also made this work through partnerships with companies like Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Hidden Valley Ranch, Taco Bell, the Super Mario Bros Movie, etc. These partnerships have grown the brand tremendously, but it really was all thanks to one Instagram account. SKKY Partners has added a board member to TRUFF and continues to focus on brands that consumers love. Spearheaded by celebrities and private equity veterans, they attract the top consumer companies for acquisition. Happy National Hot Dog Day! With more than a century of history, Oscar Mayer’s name and packaging is widely known. So it was a big deal when the famed brand recently gave its stuffed hot dogs design a new look. The switch from “cheese dogs” to “stuffed dogs” and the addition of a revealing cross-section of the product seemed to work for consumers: 77% favored the new design while only 23% preferred its predecessor. A big thank you to SOAK'd OATS for supplying me with some sample products to practice on for my product photography course. This weekend, I had the chance to test out what I have learned so far. For this shot, I wanted to capture the feel of a sunny morning with a bright blue sky and the bar propped up on a bed of oats and dried fruit. I went for a low angle to give the bars a heroic look. It was a bit tricky to get the wrapped bar to sit just right without too many creases, but after some Photoshop magic, I'm super happy with the results. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸?
