This message has been sent to participants in ECO Prevention, Early Detection and Screening Network Dear Prevention, Early Detection and Screening Network participants, We are pleased to announce the release of the 'Time to Accelerate: for Cancer Screening' Best Practices Survey!  This campaign reflects the efforts of leading oncologists and organisations representing the six tumour types included in the EU screening recommendations (breast, colorectal, cervical, lung, prostate, gastric) to design a comprehensive survey on cancer screening policies. The insights collected will enable stronger promotion of cancer screening best practices across Europe. The survey will collect the day-to-day experiences of those on the frontlines of cancer screening and inform on how we can improve current practices to make them more inclusive, effective, and efficient. These first-hand experiences are essential to understand the challenges that cancer care providers face every day. The survey remains open until 30 April. Respondent groups include but are not limited to: oncology professionals, patient advocates and persons with experience and interest in cancer screening. We kindly invite you to participate in the survey and encourage your networks to do the same. Let's hope that this is a begining of the brand new tradition, which will be rising a public awarness and motivate the governments around the world to support fiancially development of novel more powerful diagnostic technologies capable of detecting cancer earlier and more accurately. So.... have you had your cancer screenings? there are multiple options for colorectal cancer screening. Mammograms are recommended annually starting at age 40 (30 if you are high risk), and please do your self exams. Pap smears are recommended every 3 years (less if you have abnormal paps or are high risk). Do you now or have you ever smoked and are age 50 or older? Talk to your pcp about the lung cancer screening CT (and that's just for the recommended guidelines. Please ask your pcp about it even if you never smoked but are diabetic, use statins, have a personal or family history of other cancers, or live with a smoker or vaper). And have you heard about the vaccines that can prevent some types of cancer? The HPV vaccine prevents cervical cancer in women as well as oral, throat, and penile cancers in men by preventing the disease that can cause it! #themoreyouknow #cancerprevention #earlydetectionsaveslives #publichealth

Increased awareness is key to promoting early screening, breaking stereotypes, and advocating for resources to support patients and their families. Let's challenge the stigma and rally for more research and accessible healthcare. 🍽️ Gastric Cancer: Digesting the Facts Gastric cancer affects the stomach lining and, though less common, demands our attention. Awareness empowers individuals to recognize symptoms, encouraging timely medical intervention. By fostering understanding about risk factors and lifestyle choices, we can collectively work towards reducing the incidence of gastric cancer. 🫰 Pancreatic Cancer: Unmasking the Challenges Pancreatic cancer is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, contributing to its low survival rates. Senate Appropriations Bill Increases Cancer Funding: https://lnkd.in/garGB7ye The Colorectal Cancer Alliance continues to advocate for funding and support and the Senate Appropriations Committee has committed to advancing legislation aimed to increase funds allocated to cancer research, as well as protecting cancer screening programs from further cuts: In efforts to secure the same commitment from The House of Representatives, we have to individually reach out and share our stories. You can write your own letter, or use the following sample: "I am writing to ask for your support for cancer research and prevention programs in the 2024 budget. At a minimum, the House should mirror the funding levels approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee, but ideally, the House should demonstrate a greater commitment to health by increasing the level of support. Cancer research through NIH and prevention programs at CDC have proven successful in reducing cancer deaths. I hope you share my strong belief that beating cancer must be a priority". Medical journals and health news outlets are abuzz 🐝 with the latest USPSTF recommendation for breast cancer 🎗 screening: average-risk people should start screening at age 4️⃣0️⃣. Early detection is key 🗝 to improving health outcomes, and at Phreesia we're proud to play a role in that effort.
