I remember packing up our lives in Londonderry, New Hampshire, so my dad could start a new job in Seattle, Washington. 📦🌟 It was daunting. 😳 As a 14 year old kid, moving across the country felt like stepping into a different world. 🌎 I was leaving behind friends, familiar places, and a slice of life I cherished. 💔 A fun fact: a classmate from Londonderry moved when I did and ended up at the same middle school in Seattle. It was a small world moment in a big life change. 🌍❤️ Then came Seattle – a city vibrant with culture and new opportunities. 🌆 It was here that my love for baseball truly blossomed. ⚾️ I set a goal: Play for Stanford and then go pro. I even had a vision board before I knew what one was! 🎯 This move taught me resilience and the power of embracing change. It shaped my ability to adapt – a skill that proved invaluable throughout my career. 💪 Whether it's shifting to a new city or pivoting in my professional life, like transitioning into real estate investment, these moves have always been about growth and new beginnings. 🌱 If you're facing a big change, remember that it's more than a challenge; it's an opportunity to write a new chapter in your story. 📚🚀 It might be tough at first, but trust me, the journey is worth it. ✨ Have you ever taken a leap that led to unexpected growth? 🌟🌱

Starting a business can feel like walking a tightrope, where every step—every decision—seems to have the weight of the world on it. Each new opportunity could either be a tremendous success or a potential pitfall. Prior to the launch of NKST a growth acceleration firm I wrote a special thanksgiving message to myself during one of (if not) the lowest points of my professional career. End of an era! There are times in life when you are given the opportunity to do great things, and you have to seize it. This happened to me in April 2017 when Tide’s founder, George Bevis, and the CTO, Matt W., brought me in and gave me that life-changing opportunity. I will be forever grateful for that. But now, after seven years, the time has come for me to leave my baby blue, Tide 🙂. It was a hard decision, as I have been living and breathing Tide for the last seven years. I helped it grow from a tiny company of 25 people to a thriving organisation of aprox. 2000. We scaled our product, launched new offerings, opened offices in new locations, expanded our culture and global footprint, and achieved many more amazing things together. It was a true rollercoaster of emotions, with many failures (and learnings) but many more successes. I had a fantastic team (the best, really 😎) and incredible colleagues like Benjamin Petit, Tiago Bencardino and Samson Muhangi (and many others who are too many to mention in a post) who went above and beyond to help us achieve our vision. And a great manager, Guy Duncan who believed in me and pushed me outside my comfort zone. Although I am super excited about my unknown and uncertain future, it is a bittersweet feeling as I leave behind many friends, colleagues, and a great work culture. But I take with me a wealth of memories and lasting friendships that I will cherish forever and keep close to my heart. As for my next steps? I’m planning a good (and well-earned) break from work, taking the summer off to rest, reflect, reset, recharge, and restart. I have a pile of books to catch up on and a few courses I am eager to start (and finish). But more importantly, I am looking forward to spending quality time with family and friends under the sun and near a beach! Happy New Year! I wanted to take some time to reflect on the personal challenges and triumphs that I've had in 2023. First the good: I was able to double my agency's revenue year over year in 2023 (aloa.agency), despite experiencing many tough challenges that agency owners like me face. Last year, we dealt with non-payment (fun!), less-than-ideal contracts, a scammer or two, and a whole host of other things that can plague the small business owner. In spite of that, we took on new clients that we're incredibly excited about, and I was able to grow my small team to 14! Running a growing team has its own share of challenges, as anyone will tell you. However the joy of working with talented and genuinely good people is something that makes me happy every single day. I was also blessed to meet some incredible people this last year, including a handful of mentors that really mean the absolute world to me. I feel so much less alone on my entrepreneurial journey than I did one year ago. I love being able to confidently tackle bigger and and more complex projects, and I love growing together with my team. The bad, or at least the "room for improvement": Work/life balance? This concept was meaningless to me last year. And overwork manifested itself in a physical and chronic injury. Simply put, my body is warning me that I can't continue at the same pace. That's why this year is all about putting systems and processes in place to enable us to grow further and to double our revenue yet again. Most of all in 2024. I'm excited to continue developing our team and to focus on higher quality output and ever before—we're not out of the woods yet by any means, but there's a lot to be thankful for and optimistic about. And of course... I've got a *son* on the way in April, so everything is about to change yet again! Cheers to you and yours, wishing you a happy and prosperous new year full of discovery and wonder.
