Last week, we supported the introduction of the Energizing Our Communities Act into Congress. The breakdown in the slides below👇
Slide 2: Here’s the challenge we are trying to help solve — transmission! It’s how we get reliable energy from point A to point B. It is vital to scaling and delivering clean energy to communities across the country.
Slide 3: Right now, 1400 GW of potential energy (90% of which is for zero-carbon energy like solar, wind and battery storage) is seeking connection to our grid. That is a huge amount of energy – 1.4 trillion watts. We want to help make that happen. And transmission infrastructure is the key.
Slide 4: So, how do we incentivize communities to host this clean energy infrastructure? The Energizing Our Communities Act invests revenue from certain federal Department of Energy loan programs back into communities, including tribal governments, who host transmission infrastructure. This can be used for things like roads, schools, first responders, outdoor recreation and more!
Next week, we are headed back Capitol Hill to meet with lawmakers to continue championing this common ground legislation. And we need your help too!
