Formula E started with 2 races in the US 10 years ago (Long Beach & Miami). Formula E's CEO has just hinted 2 races in the US are again the target for the 2026 calendar. "My view has always been the US needs more than one race," stated FE's CEO. "It needs at least two, maybe more than that. The good news is we have a lot of American cities that are interested in putting on a race. If you look at the US, probably 20 [cities could host Formula E]... New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, Detroit, Phoenix, Dallas, you go on and on... The fastest driver always wins the race ... right? 🏎 Wrong. The winner of the race is whoever travels the pre-determined distance in the shortest amount of time. It's easy to assume this is always the fastest driver, but in racing you should never assume anything.  Some races change dramatically on the final lap. Some, even, on the final corner. There are occasions when a driver is able to outperform his or her competitors not in lap time, but in strategy or ingenuity. The driver can out-wit the rest of the competition to gain an advantage and sometimes it leads to a win. This is what racing is all about. It is the very heart and soul of racing. This is why those of us who commit every single day to motorsports do what we do. The underdog can win not from a fluke chance (although this can also happen), but because he or she found a way to win. A strategy. A loophole. Something no one else thought of. We find a way to win. It often upsets people who are not used to being outsmarted. But that is what motorsports is. It's very simple. You either find a way to find a way to win. Or you lose. 

🏎 This weekend marked the return of the F1 academy, the inaugural race of its second season being held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia alongside the Formula 1 and Formula 2 championships. While operating largely independently last year, the F1 Academy will be a support series for Formula 1 and share the track for seven rounds this season.   📺 The series faced some backlash last year for its inaccessibility for fans. Since these races took place independently, they were not available for fans to watch live and only the highlights were released on YouTube hours after the races ended. This year, not only will the races be available for subscribers on F1TV and national cable partners, but the series will also be live-streamed for free on the F1 Academy’s YouTube channel and Twitter/X broadcast channel. According to Director, Susie Wolff, since the goal of the F1 Academy is to encourage women to get involved in motorsports, “to do that we need to reach new audiences and prove to young girls there is a place for them in our sport.” This effort appears to have made an impact as Qualifying and both races from this weekend have over 100 thousand views on YouTube alone.   🚺 For those unfamiliar with the F1 Academy, it replaced the W Series as the all-female feeder series for Formula 1 last year. There are 5 teams, who already participate in other feeder series like F2 and F3, and each team hosts 3 drivers. However, the F1 Academy team has put in a lot of work to expand the series after its maiden season. One of the most significant changes is that each Formula 1 team sponsors a driver/car on the grid. The collaboration between the teams and the academy drivers allows these girls support, opportunities, and training that boosts the chances that they can integrate and progress further up the feeder series ladder. Last year’s winner, Marta Garcia, secured her a fully-funded seat in FRECA, the next step up the F1 feeder series ladder, due to her highly impressive drive and results. Additionally, most of the other drivers/cars not backed by an F1 team have also secured sponsorship: Charlotte Tilbury, Puma, Tommy Hilfiger, and Red Bull Ford are each backing one car on the grid. ✨ Each of this year’s partner’s support can be clearly seen both on the grid and online. Each of the Formula 1 teams have been actively posting about their drivers on their social media channels and had drivers and staff visit the girls in the F1 Academy paddock over the weekend. Additionally, Charlotte Tilbury is an official partner of the F1 Academy and visited the paddock to support every girl on the grid, not just the one they’re sponsoring. In their first-ever global sports sponsorship, their message to fans and girls is to “Makeup the Difference.” The level of support and attention on the F1 Academy is deeply inspiring, and should hopefully prevent the series from suffering the same fate as the W Series which fell into administration after only 3 seasons.
