Chapter 1.  The UK sovereignty is guarded by three institutions - by the House of Commons, by the House of Lords, by the King. The UK Parliament is a legislative body and hence the biggest power is vested in the house of Commons, hence the people's hands. The people entrust it's will and power into the elected servants of the constituencies which in its turn should take utmost care of the communities they represent. However, these servants deprived of virtue in most cases as well as unable or unwilling to take full responsibility for its actions tend to unite into the parties, such as the Labour or the Conservative party for instance. A priori, such representation, destituted in itself of the noble spirit to excel among their peers or exceed expectations of the electorates falls into the shameful existence and contest within a small group of active individuals who strive to attain the glory and power for themselves rather than for the common good. From all of the many things that could or should be talked about and understood, the encapsulation of that is as following; "an unelected Foreign Secretary, who lied to the British electorate, who was inept and deceitful in his own foreign policy, and who will not be accountable in the house of commons, was appointed by the unelected Prime Minister, who does not speak for the British people, and who stated that his "top team is now United". What an absolute farce ..... This could even feature as a 'Fawlty Towers' re-make! HOW IMPORTANT IS FREEDOM TO US? Whatever "freedom" means to each of us, we'll all agree that it is important. For that reason alone it is essential that we pay attention to the red flags, warning signs and alarms all around us that tell us our freedoms are under threat and that leaders of our nation are failing us all. The time is now long past for a complete overhaul of our systems of governance as they have proved to be unfit for purpose; for cleansing and renewal of the systems in government and public institutions. In 2024, A Year of Revelation and Exposure and a General Election in prospect in Britain the way forward is for truly Independent People to stand as Prospective Representatives in Britain's 650 Parliamentary Constituencies. The system is rigged against Independents; it is a David against Goliath struggle, with the odds in favour of that reprehensible and overbearing Giant. But David won. Why do I criticize Centrist politicians and parties and view them as dangerous? In November 2018, I detailed my views in a letter to Delmarva Now, titled “Centrism is not a moderate political position.” I’m also known for correcting those in the Progressive movement and others who mistakenly label Centrists as “Moderates.” My political journey has shown that Centrists often adopt far-right positions in a misguided attempt to appease everyone. This doesn’t control extremism; it empowers it. A prime example is in the Netherlands, where Centrist parties embraced far-right immigration policies to attract far-right voters, only to end up legitimizing and boosting the far right. Centrism, both historically and today, is too often about appeasement, leading to the normalization of extreme views. Remember, centrism is a stepping stone to fascism.

Theresa May certainly had her day and we have the scares to prove it; Track record have a tendency to stick so does the harm done to the nation that comes at the back of bad governance due to having leaders that simply landed (or crashed) at No. 10 without direct public selection/scrutiny and debate. Can elected leaders also screw up; of course they can but this is part-and-parcel of a democratic system, one that provides genuine checks/balances and the public should always be central in applying such protections. It's also important as mentioned in a previous post that democracy is allowed to evolve so it's able to develop and protect itself from "clever" people who seek to abuse it; one such evolution/protection is how leaders (and politicians generally) are swiftly unseated when national interest becomes at risk due to bad governance and/or corruption rather than let them serve remainder of their term due to politically motivated legal shackles which can (have been proven) to be quite a costly proposition (short, medium and long term). I spent some time listening to the BBC’s coverage of the British National Election last night, where the Labour Party (traditionally more left of centre) won a landslide victory of the Conservatives (right wing) who had held power for 14 years. It comes to a time in every political career when the promises made and the realities of life do not align. It continues to be a struggle to make ends meet for many, civil unrest is rampant, politicians continue to remain out of touch with the populous… and thus, the nation overwhelmingly transfers their support elsewhere in the hopes of the other person/ party being able to ‘fix things’ more effectively and with greater speed. Politics has become ever more angry and certainly more divisive than ever before. And this is true in the UK, USA, Canada, Israel, France, Argentina and across the world. We are seeing radical opinions being afforded a major platform and constant hate over riding the human spirit that lies beneath the surface. Let’s not lose track of the simple reality that we are all human beings, created in the image of G-D, and acting in the that way we believe is the correct manner to further strengthen society. Just because a person voted differently from you or doesn’t have the same opinion on issues, it doesn’t make them less human, less deserving of respect. Paraphrasing the words of Rabbi Sacks, we must replace our current form of Politics of Anger with the Politics of Hope, dreaming that together, we can make tomorrow better. #politics #election #labour #conservative #right #left #republican #democrat #trump #biden #usa #uk #hope #anger

Sectarianism in British politics is lauded simply by the fact it is not addressed by the mainstream media or political parties. Mr Galloway says his victory 'is for Gaza'. Why? What about #rochdale? Does Rochdale not have any problems of it's own? Is it the norm now to bully, harass and threaten candidates in an election? It would be great if British politicians represent the British interests, not those of foreign nations or international institutions. I'm not a subscriber, so I can't read this Times article, but if Sue Gray is serious about introducing Irish-style citizen assemblies in the UK, it's worth some reflection on how citizen assemblies interact with politics differently in first-past-the-post systems which incentivise polarisation rather than in coalition-building systems such as PR which are used to handling multiple strands of opinion in a government programme. Also, the Irish citizen assemblies were followed by referendums, which were essential for confirming the decision of a small group of citizens through an expression of the overall democratic will. What a perspicacious letter in today’s paper. This Covid enquiry is a total embarrassment for the entire nation.. Covid blame SIR – Britain has a dismal track record when it comes to the speed, cost and final value of its official inquiries. Watching Boris Johnson at the Covid Inquiry (report, telegraph.co.uk, December 6) gives a clue as to why. Overseen and conducted by senior members of the legal profession, it reflects the nature of our court system, with an adversarial tone and a focus on individuals and apportioning blame. This is inimical to discovering how a similar emergency might be handled in future. Moreover, it has the flavour of “a fool asking more questions than a wise man can answer”, in that it doles out blame with the wisdom of hindsight. We would be better served by inquiries conducted by a panel of wise heads from outside the legal profession who could focus on practicalities.
