Treating people well from the moment you meet them seems to be a problem for some businesses. (Large and small alike.) I've been on both sides of the table where a company wasn't treating a prospective co-worker like a human. They were just a "candidate". It almost felt like every part of the process was intended to dehumanise them for the sake of objectivity, efficiency or possibly to avoid the awkward and messy humanness of talking to a person and deciding whether they're a good fit and sharing with them so they can decide if you're a good fit for them.
