Great report Josh Bersin. How many of these 14% top paid CHROs come from within HR vs being appointed directly to CHRO role from another function?

Great article on the evolving CHRO role! As mentioned in the article most of the legacy HCM systems in the market aren't designed for the modern workplace and it's causing a major hurdle for most organizations. This is one of the reasons i came to Dayforce, which has changed the game with it's modern real-time global HCM platform. We are truly making the work life better!

While CHROs have more to do today, at the end of all days, they are simply a liability hedge so the CEO can do whatever they think is best. If they have so much juice, where were they at Salesforce, Google, Facebook and all of them as they laid off perfectly good people on behalf of the shareholder. That is what the role is. To protect the interests of the Enterprise and its investors, and little to nothing really about the most critical piece which is People. They will say all the right things but really are powerless to stop the CEO and CFO from doing what they do. Sorry.

The biggest shift I’m noticing is the rise of compliance. The rapid pace of regulation change means organisations traditional quality / compliance / assurance functions are looking to HR to guide, and sometimes build the response.

Agreed; organizational design will become more relevant as the need for flatter and more agile teams are needed to accommodate the declining workforce and emerging trends in both AI and cross-functionality. CHRO's are necessary to drive this evolution.

For years, CHROs and the teams they strategically build have lead organizations of varying sizes through large-scale transformations, globally, and aligning total compensation and talent attraction/development to drive employee attraction, retention, and leadership behaviors that garner results. Happy to see greater appreciation of these exceptional HR business leaders 👏

Thanks Josh Bersin This was a very good read and highlights the growing strategic importance of the CHRO role. I agree that factors like remote work and AI are reshaping the position. Given the increasing overlap between technology and people management, I predict we'll see a merging of IT and HR expertise. By 2030, we might find tech-savvy CHROs stepping into CIO roles, and vice-versa, or perhaps even a single, combined role.
