🚀 Excited to Share Our Latest Achievement! 🚀 As the Database Administrator, I am thrilled to announce that our team has successfully relocated our physical server hosting SQL Server with a complex replication setup! This project was no small feat, involving meticulous planning, seamless coordination, and precise execution. Here are some highlights: 🔹Teamwork: Collaborating with a skilled team of IT professionals, we ensured minimal downtime and uninterrupted data flow. 🔹Preparation: Detailed analysis and preparation were key. We conducted rigorous testing and simulations to anticipate potential challenges and develop robust solutions. 🔹Handling Challenges: During the relocation, we faced a significant challenge with a tempdb hard disk corruption. Thanks to our team's quick thinking and expertise, we were able to rectify the issue promptly, ensuring data integrity and continuity. 🔹Execution: On the relocation day, everything went smoothly, thanks to the careful planning and our team's expertise. The SQL Server replication setup was migrated without a hitch, maintaining data integrity and availability. 🔹Learning & Growth: This experience has been an excellent opportunity to deepen my knowledge of SQL Server replication, disaster recovery planning, server management, and handling unexpected issues under pressure. I was asked about "stickiness" of our clients When I was done laughing at the term, I started digging into how long our recurring clients "stick" around. Interesting stuff: Pocket DBA®: First client: Just a hair over 5 years ago, still here Avg length of current clients: 1.94 years. Fractional DBA: First client: 5.83 years ago Avg length: 2.39 years Former clients (nope, we don't have 100% retention): Avg length: 1.73 years. Given that Dallas DBAs was a side-hustle until May 2018 (< 6 years ago), we're pretty pleased with these numbers! This says something about our team, our responsiveness and our pricing, that very few recurring clients leave (whatever the reason). Are you next?
