The youth residents in our Rolling Hills community are learning all about Careers and Entrepreneurialism in their summer enrichment program! Led by Social Services Coordinator, Kimyetta Lewis, they took a field trip to Truist Bank and met Mr. Dana Townsend, the Branch Leader, and later joined their former Social Services Coordinator, Mrs. Laura English, for lunch at Argentos Pizza. Social isolation among seniors can have serious health consequences, including increased risk of depression and cognitive decline. Last year, we facilitated over 7,000 hours of programming nationwide to combat this issue within our communities, providing social connections and meaningful activities for seniors in need. 🌟 Our senior residents at Wildwood Apartments recently enjoyed an unforgettable trip to see "Honey in the Rock" at the cliffside amphitheater, coordinated by social services coordinator Michelle Elkins. 🎭 They were captivated by the story of how West Virginia came to be its own state. Nearly 600 children across the country participate in our Out-of-School Time programming, and we also facilitate over 900 health and wellness events annually. While our focus is on education and social activities, one of our communities recently hosted a special session on social-emotional conversations and mental health best practices with specialist Renequa Floyd. At Better Tomorrows, we believe mental well-being is crucial for everyone, including our youth. Close to 600 children participate in Better Tomorrows’ Out-of-School Time programming. Today, we're excited to highlight a fantastic field trip our youth residents from the Villages of Westhaven took for Summer Enrichment. They had an amazing time watching the live-action Corduroy play at the Shakespeare Theatre at Chicago's Navy Pier. It was their first time experiencing this type of theatre, and they loved it! They even got to meet the actors after the play! After the show, the kids enjoyed some outdoor time, had lunch, and admired all the boats at the pier.
