My first internship was at 16, as a content writing intern at a startup called Znappin. At 17, I interned in fashion styling at an agency called Purple Thoughts, followed by another fashion styling internship with a renowned stylist duo, and one more at GQ.(GQ Magazine) By 18, I was a graphic design intern at a startup called Wunderphul. At 19… well, I don’t want to bore you with the details of all 13 internships or my life in the corporate world. What I want to emphasize is this: work every chance you get.  Experience trumps any theoretical skill you learn. Those are internships and programs open to both current students and recent graduates. Why are they important? Because current seniors can apply for those during their last year at school. Usually, current students aren’t really considered for jobs until just before they graduate, but you can apply to these during your senior year for work after you get your degree. Apply now for work later. They’re usually paid and full time, and they are often the best ways into major, amazing media companies. I had 2 quite depressing experiences today. 1/ A student who came to me asking about internships. They are doing the right thing. Reaching out. Networking. All the things we say to do. Every company they speak to says that they NEED to get an internship on their CV. It is placing a lot of pressure on them and causing anxiety. But when they reach out, the response is the same. "Too busy", "We're too small", "Not right now", "We don't take interns", "Send your CV to HR" etc etc etc 2/ A brand that reached out to me wanting students to help with the brand. I asked for a position description. It came back. A 2 week UNPAID trial! A list of quite senior responsibilities that would be paid, if the trial was successful, at an unspecified hourly rate. C'mon Fashion Industry - we need to be better than this. These kids are the future of fashion. You need to respect and encourage them - and give them opportunities. They are bright. They are keen. They are educated. How would you feel if your kids relayed these stories to you?

Like Holograd , there are too many companies , who hire you as an HR Intern and they ask for selling their courses to be promoted in HR role ! why ? why ? why ? why in the name of HR internship they are asking for selling their courses ? why should we do that ! we are applying for HR internship , not for marketing or selling internship ! so we don't need to prove our selling skills .
