I recently had the incredible opportunity to attend the National Women in Mining Conference in Elko, NV and I must say, it was an experience that left a lasting impact on me. The conference brought together women from all corners of the mining industry, providing a platform for networking, learning, and empowerment. The atmosphere was charged with a sense of camaraderie and solidarity among the attendees, who all shared a common goal of advancing gender diversity and inclusion in the traditionally male-dominated field of mining. One of the highlights of the conference for me was the keynote speeches delivered by inspiring women leaders in the mining industry. Their stories of overcoming challenges, breaking barriers, and achieving success served as a source of motivation for all of us in attendance. I was particularly moved by the emphasis on supporting and uplifting one another, as well as the importance of mentorship and allyship in driving positive change. As I left the conference, I felt a renewed sense of determination and purpose. The conference had not only equipped me with new knowledge and skills but had also instilled in me a sense of confidence and empowerment to continue breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes in the mining industry. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of such a transformative event and look forward to applying the lessons learned and connections made to further drive positive change in the industry. It brings to light to the advancements achieved and the opportunities available for the industry to continue to become sustainable, diverse and inclusive. IDWIM has two primary objectives: - To celebrate the pioneers who paved the way and those we sadly lost, the women currently working in the mining sector and the future ones who will join the mining sector with a yearly global celebration. Empowering women in Africa’s mining industry! Discover the thoughts of Carla Clamp of BDO South Africa as she examines the challenges holding women back in the continent’s mining industry and why it is imperative to identify and remove such barriers. “There is a whole lot of untapped potential in women that could be miners that is currently not being assessed or utilised. 🌺 To promote greater female representation in the mining industry and foster the career advancement of women, GLY Consulting, led by Pauline Lu, took the initiative to organize and host the "Chinese Women in Mining" online event on March 8th, coinciding with International Women's Day. The event welcomed participants from China, Canada, and Australia. During the event, three distinguished guest speakers shared their valuable perspectives. Mrs. Guixia Ma, Founder and Chairman of Dekuang Jiuding Mining Technology Inc in China, Diana Hu, CEO of Cheetah Chrome Mine in South Africa, and Nancy Liu, Co-Founder and VP Operations of ThreeDify Nancy Liu in Canada, discussed the challenges, opportunities, and success factors for female professionals in the mining industry. They also provided insights into the characteristics of effective women leaders. The discussions spanned various topics, including the career prospects emerging from digital transformation and the applications of artificial intelligence in the mining sector. This article is so interesting, … In my opinion with 20 years of the industry is a patron over the time. I took this extract of the article: “Moreover, the employee-organization relationship has primarily been modelled through a “fit-in or risk being excluded model” rather than valuing the importance of diverse perspectives and experiences that contribute to organizational growth. This can often leave employees not feeling welcome in the mining industry.” In my experience, when diverse teams are built in all aspects, teamwork is generated and listened to at all organizational levels, the results are impressive in many ways; efficiency, productivity, creativity, cost savings, etc. The attraction and retention plan have to be planed for diverse teams, to get the right results
