Today, I'm diving into an urgent and not frequently covered topic: the decarbonization of the trucking industry. 🌱💡 Did you know that the trucking industry contributes about 6% of global emissions? With about 13.5 million diesel trucks on the road in the United States alone. That is a load of emissions being hauled into the atmosphere. We cannot forget about this industry as we drive to a cleaner and greener future. 📊🔥 While we wish we could waive a magic wand and make all of these trucks turn into hydrogen or electric-powered, it's simply not feasible given the lifetime of these trucks. We need a solution that helps solve the problem today, not in 10 years when fleet managers are replacing trucks. Enter Optimus Technologies, Inc., a Pennsylvania-based company producing a solution to immediate decarbonization in the trucking industry by up to 90% 🤯. Somil and I had the privilege of hosting ⚡️ Lori Dunn the COO of Optimus Technologies, on the CleanTechies Podcast. 💚 EcoLyzer goes into #seriesproduction   ⚡ Here is a live example of the imminent structural change in the German industry - the Ecoclean Center of Competence in Monschau, originally a well-known automotive supplier, discovered a new area of business with the electrolyzers.   💡 After experiencing a sharp drop in demand from the automotive industry, the Monschau team looked for alternatives. They compared what technologies were needed for the electrolyzer and what they could already do with their years of experience in Special plant construction. The result: EcoLyzer!   🔌 As the supply of hydrogen expands, this technology will become established as an alternative to fossil fuels in the energy and transportation sectors. VERVAEKE embarks on test fleet of CO2-free long-distance transport.   We will be testing one of Daimler Truck AG's first five liquid hydrogen-powered trucks to tow a PVC silo bulk trailer for our customer INEOS Inovyn.   Uniquely, it is subcooled liquid hydrogen which serves as the sole fuel for the vehicle. For VERVAEKE, it is a great opportunity to learn about this new technology within the group.   "We are very excited about this project which fits perfectly into our sustainability strategy. Supplying heavy trucks with liquid hydrogen is a revolutionary step.
