Are they really great?!! It's understandable to feel a sense of nostalgia for the days when esteemed professionals and community leaders were the norm for guest speakers at school and college events. These individuals often provided valuable insights and inspiration derived from their expertise and life experiences. In recent years, the rise of social media influencers as guest speakers at such events has become more common. While some influencers may indeed have expertise in certain areas, others may primarily be known for their online presence and popularity rather than for substantial achievements in a particular field. It's essential to consider the message being conveyed to young people during these events and the impact it may have on their aspirations and values. While influencers can offer unique perspectives and experiences, it's also important to balance their presence with opportunities to hear from individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise. Ultimately, the goal should be to provide young people with a variety of role models and mentors who can inspire them to pursue their passions and make meaningful contributions to society, regardless of their fame or social media following. what's your opinion on my view? Healthy discussions and the ability to consider opposing views are crucial for growth. That’s why I always say, ‘Be mindful of who you follow.’ It's a responsibility we all share. Remember, follower count doesn’t equate to wisdom. Instead, seek influencers who embody wisdom, courage, and compassion.
