I know a lot of my connections have asked about the final guide in the CIPR EDI essentials series. Thrilled (and mostly relieved tbh 😂 ) to be able to say it's published today. All of them have been important to me, but this one probably the most. Disability allies, advocates and accomplices (if this is a new term to you read the guide to find out what it means!) are so important in helping bring about change. Influencing your sphere of power and working alongside disabled people to improve inclusion, equity and accessibility is powerful. As much as I'm please to see this guide out in the wild and complete the series, I'm still a little sad that we didn't get to include real life stories and examples in here. We explain why in the guide, which is another good reason to download it. Another is that it's the final day of Disability Pride Month and getting some CPD points whilst learning how to be a better ally to disabled people seems like a good thing? #DisabilityPrideMonth #DisabilityInclusion #PublicRelations

Some people are just one in a million... And that was the late Victoria Jameson. 8 March marks #internationalwomensday , a day dedicated to women’s rights. Women’s rights are human rights and must be promoted, protected and respected as such. In 2024, we are in a better place than before, but there is still a long way to go. Today is a day to stand up for equality, equity, justice and inclusion! KMEWO has been working tirelessly towards these values for 25 years to ensure that Black and Minoritised women, survivors of domestic Abuse and harmful practices have a loud voice in Islington, across London and in every single place where their human rights are found violated. To mark International Women’s Day, we are launching our 2022-2023 Annual Report, showcasing the work we have done over the past year. At a glance: 691 women felt safer and escaped abusive relationships through our specialist VAWG advocacy, advice and support. 77 women improved their mental health through 1:1 culturally sensitive counselling in their mother tongue 94 IT devices distributed to women in refuges to reduce digital isolation. 36 frontline professionals in the voluntary and statutory sectors received Harmful Practices for Professionals training to better understand the complex concept of harmful practices and its intersection with VAWG so that they can improve their responses to the needs of survivors of domestic abuse. https://lnkd.in/dVtJ9sQp #inspireinclusion

Not everything that The ALIVE National Centre does can fit on one page but we've gathered some of the core parts of our 2023 journey to share what matters for us: * connection is key * communities matter * capabilities are essential * conversations are continous * change and community action are key. Let's imagine transforming ecosystems of care where interconnections between people are the focus, where capabilities growth is as much about unlearning for some as it is about learning for others and where communities are places to drive change. Let's also then imagine mental health research translation becomes more about the actions that grow these things...
