Recently, I had a great conversation with another industry expert about the waning lifespan of the term “processor agnostic” as it relates to payments acceptance. We can be angry that agnostic solutions are becoming more scarce. But that doesn’t make it any less our reality. If you own a great POS solution or a gateway which you’ve always touted as the solution itself rather than the #payments processing, and then a buyer comes in and offers you more than you think it it’s worth, are you going to turn them down as a matter of principle? If not, how can we blame those who do? Everyone is going to prioritize their own interests. Everyone is going to do what’s best for themselves. We have to face this reality. If you’re angry about the changing dynamic of acceptance solutions, it’s time to do something about it besides flexing your feelings. That’s not productive. I believe the answer is to own the solution. You want control of the outcome? You’d better have some control over the solution itself. We need to be thinking about moving in the direction of control and ownership rather than leveraging everyone else’s stuff (and just hoping they never change course to offer processing or sell out completely.) I see a very clear path for winners and losers who sell acceptance solutions moving forward. Which side will you be on?

UK-based B2B Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) solution provider Hokodo has partnered with US-based B2B payments platform Balance.   According to the official press release, the partnership seeks to establish a one-stop shop for payment terms so that global B2B companies can extend flexible payments to customers spanning Europe and North America.  News of this development comes as merchants offer flexible payments to drive growth and attract more customers.
