In a major international law enforcement operation led by the National Crime Agency and the FBI, the LockBit cybercrime group has been disrupted. LockBit is notorious for its ransomware attacks, with CybelAngel attributing more than 725 ransomware attacks to LockBit since June 2023. We’ve traced these attacks to 76 countries globally, with 40% of victims located in the United States alone! Global law enforcement reportedly just scored a notable victory against the notorious Lockbit ransomware gang. 🔐 Lockbit is one of the most prolific and advanced ransomware operations, responsible for attacks on over 1,700 organizations globally. The FBI, NCA, Europol, Interpol and others gained control of Lockbit's main extortion site and backend attack infrastructure panel. The FBI claims to have obtained internal data on Lockbit's operations, victims, extortion profits, etc. This could allow law enforcement to identify affiliates, seize funds, and prevent future attacks.
