💡 Placing a nasogastric tube involves risks. As healthcare providers, we should always strive for accurate placement. Our study examined the clinical effectiveness of the corrected nose-earlobe-xiphoid distance formula (CoNEX) for determining the internal length of nasogastric tubes in adults. This past weekend's attendance at the American Academy of Physician Associates annual meeting #AAPA2024 in Houston was a great opportunity to engage with many providers and learn more about their perspectives on today's healthcare landscape. I'm grateful for our #AlliedHealthProfessionals ability to show up for patients across a multitude of specialties and filling the widening gap of care that exists today. The article below maps out this gap and the need to recruit and educate more in this field to address the healthcare needs of tomorrow, but I would question what is the root cause underlying the current and projected future void. My conversations at #AAPA2024 uncovered aspects of #burnout, frustrations with #highdrugcosts, lack of #autonomy, #formularyburden, access issues, and so on. Of course we need more medical professionals to treat our communities, but equal efforts need to made to address the negative aspects that are turning our prospects away.
