Harmonization of #cancer #clinicogenomics #realworlddata from patients for drug development takes a lot of time and resources. That's why pharma companies often start with #TCGA and develop an internal platform to browse that one dataset and integrate it with their own. Despite TCGA being NOT the largest "publicly available" multi omics cancer patient dataset, it's the largest that is openly accessible at de-identified aggregated level. Any other larger dataset takes over 6 months, sometimes over a year, to get info even just about 1 target, even aggregated. That's the key reason why TCGA has become the most cited, with worldwide recognition, driving research all over the world.

Anybody who has watched a loved one battle with cancer will know what a mixed blessing #Chemotherapy can be. Which is why so much hope - and money - has been invested in Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs), which can be far more targeted and less toxic, but which are also far more expensive at the moment. My colleague Cecilia Boz, PhD summarises the debate around ADCs here, explaining clearly not only what the potential of this relatively new technology is, but also why ADCs may fall short of the hype. Can ADCs become the accepted Standard of Care in place of chemo? We're proud to announce the publication of very promising pre-clinical data for our next generation PD-1/PD-L1 bispecific antibody, CTX-8371, in the journal OncoImmunology. CTX-8371 outperformed approved checkpoint inhibitors in a series of in vitro and in vivo preclinical experiments. In addition, the data reveal synergistic activity of the combination of CTX-8371 and the Compass CD-137 agonist, CTX-471. The preclinical data supported the acceptance of our US IND submission and we are excited to treat the first patients with CTX-8371 in Q1 2024. Nature Reviews Drug Discovery at Springer Nature Group and Nature Portfolio highlights the latest publication of our co-founders Luis Alvarez-Vallina and Belén Blanco Durango on STAb Technology for the treatment of #multiplemyeloma. This research highlight recaps the most relevant results obtained in the preclinical study showing the superiority of STAb-TBCMA compared to CAR T cells against the same target. As our co-founder underscores in the research highlight: “In this strategy, T cell recruitment is not restricted to engineered T cells (…). The polyclonal recruitment by TCEs of both engineered and unmodified bystander T cells, present at the tumour site, lead to a significant boost in antitumour T cell responses”.
