1moA very long and interesting research article of the Musacea program in LA and the publication of this article “Fusarium Tropical Race 4 in Latin América and the Caribbean: Status and Global Research Advances Towards Disease Management” by Miguel Angel Dita Rodriguez and Jorge Eliezer Vargas Acosta highlights the importance of knowledge based learning and keeping up with the patogens Fusarium Oxyporum Tropical Race 4 - causes the Fusarium wilt of bananas. The advancement in its management, including agronomist-soils. The losses in banana production has affected 23 countries globally, and in Latin America it was detected in 2019 affected 20 large exporters-farms in Colombia, 2021 in Venezuela, and 2021, Peru, again in Venezuela 2023. Also affecting Plaintains production. Biocontrols, and irrigation management controls in order to prevent further spread, governments of the region are vigilant in their agriculture sectors. The R1+ R2 Resistance varieties offer alternative approach, and the countries enforcement- producers to adhere to the management regulations and how we are combating this pathogen. This is a menace to Food Security for the Latin American region and we must keep up monitoring and protecting the banana production.
