Crazy that neither EVgo or Electrify America capitalized on the huge PR opportunity left in the wake of the Tesla Supercharger news. Huge missed opportunity. Hello??? We don’t know why Tesla did this yet. Lots of speculation. Lots of great talent out there to scoop up. That said, after the dust settles here, I believe the end result will be better for the industry. Poor EV infrastructure is slowing adoption. I hear it while talking to hundreds/thousands of consumers at Electrify. The Auto Manufacturers are doing awesome, making product. The Gov’t and network providers are lagging behind manufacturing and negatively impacting the very thing they are promoting. How frustrating for manufacturers after spending billions! Bottom line is that this news should motivate investment and deployment into EV infrastructure in the US and warn us that there’s no single solution to infrastructure. #Tesla #EV

Or, maybe one of the networks (Shell Recharge?) bought the Tesla supercharger network? 🛸👽

I know you already know this BJ, but with our laser focus on end user experience and uptime and reliability, we at Rove are hoping to be the upswing in the news cycle for the sector here shortly. Once people see what charging can look like when you design for the customer and when you don't let what has been done stand in the way of what can be done, great things can happen.

Need to pump the brakes on expectations. It only appears that EVs are struggling because of the unreasonable expectations that were put in place. In reality, the EV market continues to grow, outpacing ICE sales and gaining market share. This is why the hyperbole needs to stop. EVs are winning! Just not at the unrealistic pace we were misled by. Now the consequences of lying about scalability are here. Hopefully the narrative starts to match reality and we can reach a reasonable equilibrium now.

BJ Birtwell companies like BP, Chevron are the ones best positioned to lead and drive charging infrastructure. However, that’s huge topic that should be examined and discussed.

I think the main issue is that monetizing EV charging is difficult. It's not like you will be able to recoup your investment and start making a profit with it quickly.

Well said. I think the lack of a universal charging and EV infrastructure is slowing EV sales here in CA.

As an agency, we're baffled by the lack of PR around EV news like this in general. As someone who consults on communications for emobility/etransportation, we always seek out opportunities for our clients. Unfortunately, this is such a new space for so many B2B agencies, so having to move quickly and share this news and how it can impact the market or their client isn't on their radar.
