According to Kaufman Hall, U.S. hospital margins improved slightly in June, rising to 1.4%. However, the improvement is not uniform across all hospitals. The disparity between under-performing and over-performing hospitals is widening. The widening disparity between under-performing and over-performing hospitals is a cause for concern. It means some #hospitals struggle to survive, while others are thriving. This could lead to a two-tiered healthcare system, with high-quality care available only to those who can afford it. The costs are escalating out of control and the insult to our intelligence is only surpassed by the arrogance to consider us the consumers idiots. First the for-profit hospitals run profitable operations as they must show a return on investment to their shareholders. Second, they even provide ore charity care than their none profit colleges. The nonprofits are generating loses year after year and there is a very simple reason it is their executive compensation.
