Let's delve into some Zoom configurations! How do you set up your Zoom preferences? While we may all use the "Touch up my appearance" feature, there are other valuable settings worth exploring. For instance, enabling "Always display participant names on their videos" can be particularly beneficial. During demos, addressing participants by name can enhance engagement and make them feel valued. This small gesture keeps them actively involved in the conversation and ensures they leave feeling heard. In a relatively recent experience with Panera Bread, an American Bread Co., my former colleague Eric Rutledge shared with me that during a post-win debrief the new client revealed that our attentive approach made a significant impact. By acknowledging their presence and concerns, we were able to establish a strong connection and differentiate ourselves from competitors with tailored value. A large part of this is addressing your short-term action team by name. The best way to remember this is by checking that little box on Zoom ✅ "Always display participant names on their videos"

How I used to open my demo meetings: "See, we got offices in Berlin, Basel, Boston - all places that start with a B - ISN'T THAT FUNNY???!" 🤓 "I'm in charge of northern Germany; like everything north of the Aldi equator." 😬 🛒 --- Is it even funny? I don't know...😶 But it is certainly not: 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁. Nowadays, you have only minutes, often time even less, to gain your audience's attention. And the single best thing you could do to attract their attention is to make it about 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗠! Their challenges, their business issues, their problems. And not about you, your offices, your territory, your customer base. --- Instead, start with a simple slide that depicts what you have understood from your discovery calls. Why are we here today? Why are 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 here today? And why is it worth listening to you for the next 60min, other than bad jokes?! ➡️ Revisit their critical business issue ➡️ Translate this into symptoms and challenges. ➡️ Illustrate how you are envisioning to help them overcome their challenges. ➡️ Visualize the opportunity costs of doing nothing. Frame your demo so it is crystal clear to your customers that it is all about them. I don't mind a good punline here and there to break the ice. Humor is a great tool to gain and retain attention. Create your own luck, by being willing. Willing to work harder, differently, more, whatever that looks like. Here's what I did from Thursday to Tuesday to make an event worthwhile. - 175 connection requests (with note to meet at event) - 68 dms exchanged - 11 confirmed meetings - 48/272 registrants to the event passed through my dms - our buses got shut down & I texted 1-by-1, 136 registrants a lyft pass (contacts we had numbers for roughly 33-minutes) - worked the event hard, chased a lead before going down the elevator, ran a couple demos, scheduled next events - built $100k+ in opps This is how you create your own luck. #sales #ae #events #deals
