In today's rapidly evolving job market, the emphasis on #employability goes beyond securing a job; it encompasses empowering learners with skills essential for sustained career success and growth. Today, we had the pleasure of facilitating a full-day workshop for the faculty and academic staff of Ajman University on 'Enhancing Employability Through Effective Pedagogy.'
During the workshop, Dr Narimane Hadj Hamou, CLICKS’s CEO who facilitated the session discussed the crucial role educators play in preparing students for the dynamic demands of the 21st-century workplace. Participants explored the complex concept of employability and how it can be integrated across the learning experience, discussing the necessary actions to be taken at both institutional and program/course levels. They collaborated to identify key competencies essential for employment and how these can be incorporated into the curriculum. Various pedagogical strategies and methods for integrating employability skills development into teaching practices were also explored. Additionally, participants discussed the concept of Employability-Focused Assessment, characterized by being competency-based, authentic, and promoting student agency. The workshop concluded by examining how technology, including AI tools, can support employability efforts.
All 40+ participants from across 7 colleges were highly engaged, and it was a real pleasure to work with them.
We are grateful to Ajman University and the Teaching and Learning Center, represented by Dr. Tizreena Ismail, the Center of Teaching and Learning Manager, and Ms. Hanin Ali, for their continuous trust and support. We are also grateful to all our participants who have joined us and actively engaged.
