Today, i took a dive on how huge allocations from FAAC to the #oilrich #RiversState and quest to control the political and economic structures is exacerbating the #crisis scenarios playing up in the State #political space.

National Reconciliation Day focuses on promoting social cohesion, healing, unity, nation-building, and renewal. Reconciliation Day was adopted at the start of our democracy when it was envisioned that reconciliation, peace and stability would be a defining characteristic of our new democratic dispensation. Each year we have an opportunity to reach out to one another to deal with our past, reconcile and build a new nation.

The title of the act - ‘Future Generations” (should be plural I think) is great, as it implies the well-being of our children or immediate next generations. Technically I think the idea of caring for others should be implied, even if these children are not ours and we do not necessarily have an emotional connection. But then even our own well being now isn’t just about that of humans alone. We know we must include other beings and even non-beings in that sphere of concern, and so should it be for others. I love the idea of such an act that implicitly makes us accountable for others in other times. How do we clarify that such caring is about progressively increasing the boundaries of inclusion.

This is leadership - showing up and not shirking your own and others’ responsibilities. #leadership #accountability #resilience #sustainability

"With housing protests cropping up across European cities, from London and Lisbon, and across the U.S. from the west coast to the east, it’s no wonder Balakrishnan Rajagopal, the United Nations’ special rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, called the housing crisis “the social issue of the 21st Century.” [...] To combat this issue, Housing Europe’s Secretary General Sorcha Edwards suggests “public-interest financing,” with “social conditionality and strings attached.” That’s a good start. Then add to that “environmental conditionality and strings attached,” so the building materials for renovations aren’t detrimental to the climate.
