Elliot knows you never leave home without your emotional support dinosaur. What better than a dinosaur to help you kick cancer's tail? This sweet pup is receiving treatment for epitheliotropic T-Cell lymphoma localized to his ear with oral chemotherapy at our North Dallas hospital in Lewisville, TX. Kira Bourne, VMD, DACVIM (Oncology), and our team have found that Elliot feels safer when he can sit in their laps during treatment, and he must always have his trusty dinosaur by his side. 💙 (Photo credit: @bluepearl_dallas) #BluePearlNorthDallas #BluePearlPets #KickingCancersTail #VeterinaryOncology

As we learned from Jurassic Park, the ancestors of dinosaurs are chickens. The cytokine, transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), which has been around since before the time of the dinosaurs, is the cock-of-the-walk that makes cancer cells treatment-resistant. AdAPT-001 expresses a TGF-β trap that binds to and neutralizes TGF-β, which from ongoing clinical trial data greatly improves the activity of immune checkpoint inhibitors in hard-to-treat tumor types like sarcoma and triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). WoW! A new organ in the throat accidentally discovered by scientists 😯👏 Scientists accidentally discovered a new salivary gland in the human head, located behind the nasopharynx. The discovery was made while studying prostate cancer patients using radioactive glucose scans. The glands are believed to play a role in many of the side effects associated with radiotherapy. Folliculogenesis is a developmental sequence regulated by a number of genes, transcription factors and hormones. During fetal development of humans and postnatal development of mice, oocytes are present in clusters or nests. Majority of these oocytes enter meiosis during embryonic life. As the oocytes separate into individual oocytes, they form primordial follicles and undergo further development called oogenesis. Maturation of oocytes (oogenesis) is closely associated with the development of follicles because factors produced by the oocytes have a major impact on the development of the granulosa and theca layers. Folliculogenesis always begins in the innermost part of the ovarian cortex in mammals. #zoology #NEET My board work. No digital board. Im open for positive criticism and corrections.

Revolutionary Elephant iPSC Milestone Reached in Colossal’s Woolly Mammoth Project - https://lnkd.in/gyqTEDmt Colossal Biosciences, the world’s first de-extinction company, announced that their Woolly Mammoth team has achieved a global-first iPSC (induced pluripotent stem cells) breakthrough. This milestone advancement was one of the primary early goals of the mammoth project, and supports the feasibility of future multiplex ex utero mammoth gestation. “In the past, a multitude of attempts to generate elephant iPSCs have not been fruitful. Elephants are a very special species, and we have only just begun to scratch the surface of their fundamental biology,” shared Eriona Hysolli, Head of Biological Sciences at Colossal Biosciences. “Elephants might get the ‘hardest to reprogram’ prize, but learning how to do it anyway will help many other studies, especially on endangered species. This milestone gives us insights into developmental biology and the balance between senescence and cancer. It opens the door for obtaining gametes and other cell types without surgery on precious animals. It opens the door to establishing connections between genes and traits for both modern and extinct relatives – including resistance to environmental extremes and pathogens. This collaboration has been a true pleasure and a colossal accelerant for our challenging project,” shared Colossal co-founder and renowned Harvard geneticist Dr. George Church. “We are most excited to use the cells we have developed to grow elephant gametes in a dish. While elephants have been a challenging species, this has been an incredibly unique opportunity with so much to learn and share now and in the near future,” shared team lead Evan A.. “We knew when we set out on the Woolly Mammoth de-extinction project that it would be challenging but we’ve always had the best team on the planet focused on the task at hand,” stated co-founder and CEO of Colossal, Ben Lamm.
