Export Development Canada (EDC) has completed a USD1 billion 10-year Green benchmark transaction. The new issue represents the longest tenor and largest green USD bond ever issued by EDC. As Canada’s export credit agency, EDC supports and develops Canada’s #export trade by helping Canadian companies respond to international business opportunities, with a core commitment to sustainable and responsible business underpinned by core #ESG principles. An amount equal to the net proceeds of each green bond, as defined by EDC’s Sustainable Bond Framework, will be used to finance or re-finance eligible green assets, which include those related to #renewables facilities, activities that increase energy efficiency, pollution prevention and waste management. 2wLocal Grown Salads (a Canadian company) is issuing $100M USD Green Bonds in multiple jurisdictions such as Luxemberg, US, Canada, Afria, and Viet Nam. The Green Bonds are expected to be oversubscribed. The Bonds are aligned with the UN SDGs and finance a network of Indoor Vertical Farms. The farms grow the vegetables where they are eaten. The vegetables are pesticide and herbicide free, and the farms create good jobs.
