I wanted to share a recent #gbr episode featuring The Prince & Princess of Wales and The Princess Royal chatting about rugby because as the conversation flows the language used to describe this sport, you begin to uncover striking similarities with businesses that are often operating either on a shoestring budget, propelled by private equity, SMEs, and or B Corps. These entities face a daily battleground, challenging multinational giants, but it is the team spirit and drive to press on no matter how hard or bad the situation, you will cross over the line and if your lucky bag a few "bonus points" along the way. 🤜#irfu   ✅ Making the hard yards - equates to senior leadership making tough decisions to keep the business afloat, decisions that most colleagues may not even be aware of. ✅ Constant innovation & preparation -mirrors the diligence and agility required to bring products to market swiftly. ✅ Continuous improvement - underlines the need to refine and enhance operations continually. ✅ Fronting up - signifies unwavering belief in your brand and team. ✅ Digging deep - is akin to the final push as a critical milestone approaches. ✅ Team morale - boosting colleagues' spirits, no matter how dire the situation. ✅ Community - reflects the commitment to giving back and making a positive impact in your local area. ✅ Effective communication - MOST IMPORTANTLY is the thread that ties it all together, just as it does in rugby and business alike.   These parallels show that in the world of business, like in rugby, it's the values, determination, and teamwork that often make the difference between success and struggle.   So take a step back and take the time to genuinely understand and appreciate each of their colleagues to cultivate a robust organisational culture. I was waiting for this session for about two weeks but unfortunately, I missed it. The topic was interesting to me because it would have allowed me to hear some other opinions from a different audience/ experts. In 2018 I conducted a research paper about (Postgraduate learners’ perceptions of factors that support their autonomous motivation to learn in online contexts), when I did my 1st master's degree in New Zealand. I used the self-determination theory as the analytical framework to explore the factors perceived by online learners as supportive of their autonomous motivation to learn in online environments at a postgraduate level. The semi-structured interview findings that emerged from the inductive thematic analysis indicated that factors perceived as supportive of learners’ psychological needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness, are more likely to enhance online learners’ autonomous motivation and promote the process of internalization allowing more self-determined types of extrinsic motivation to exist.
